Ok so here is the thing, i have a 94 V6 camaro of course it is decent for engine speed and all that... body is in great conditon system eveyrthing is great it is a very rare blue for at least around here, i want to upgrade the engine to made an lt-1 or an ls-1 along with a new tranny and i want to redo the interior i have a friends dad who could do the enigne mounting and work for the tranny but what would be thebest engine to swap for most power and would it be worht it i need more opionions and the reason i really want to do this is because i have fallen in love with this car and the camaro gen and i have it paid off and i dont want another monthly car payment... and also is it possible to get custom t-tops on my car and where can this be done.. i know it is possible because places have done it thanks for all the help

i dont know much about a 6 cylinder swap but it seems like there might be a problem with the size of as ls1 or lt1 the ls1 is faster and cost more. personally id say stay with the generation style but buy a new car that already has an lt1 and t-tops....just my opinion

lt1 would be a cheaper swap and is know to be fairly bulletproof..... the ls1 would have a slight power increase compared to the lt1 but not much.... the lt1 performace parts are cheaper and more abundant..... so pretty much the lt1 is a more afordable engine with awesome power and huge power potential... the ls1 has great power with newer technology but with a steaper engine price and more expensive performance parts.....

engine swap isn't cheap.... like tcfco said its more economical to just buy an lt1 equip car but if your really in love with your car and you have the money all the more power to you...

i love this question, the lt1 is a gain im sure you will be happy with knowing what you have already(we are almost in the same boat) its true the mods for it are cheaper and they are out there, alot of performance parts.... down side, its a older engine so im guessing unless its a crate its got some miles on it, not that bad a rebuild= good as new. but if you want some real bad ass power and something alot of people dodnt have go for the ls1. yeah the lt1 isnt far behind but the extra power u cant beat. why build to 300 when u can get that from the start. and the fact that everyone goes with the lt1 over the ls1 in early model camaros, its smarter, cheaper, and common! i say be different turn some heads, go ls1 ( if u can afford that) but if you are just looking for better than what u have go lt1. it really depends on what u wanna do in the long run.

oh and i forgot, doing a swap is going to be like buying another decent camaro most likly close to what u would pay for an lt1 in good shape, so be ready to drop about 4-5 grand at least, shit always has a tendency to go sideways so u may pay a bit more, and i also understand u have someone u trust doing the work, but ill tell you just like i tell people who plan on doing the work themselves, u have to drive this car not your friends dad or any of us, read up on this yourself get to know what your about to get into and shop smart for the parts you need, dont just take someone's word or opinion have some input on the work because like i said in the long run you will be driving this car.

If you want a bigger engine, t-tops, and a different interior, youd havto be REALLY in love with your car not to just sell it and buy a z28 w/t-tops..
engine swaps, after you get an LT1 and tranny your lookin at Big dollars, then the electronics, labor, fabrication, etc etc..
Vehicles with t-tops have added bracing in the a-arms, etc. for support, adding t-tops to a vehicle properly can be very tricky and you can take a lot of structural strength away if not done properly.. then that maro will be dog tracking like no bodys business..
I know that "you love your car and dont want another one" but ive heard it a dozen times, and if you got a new camaro with an LT1 and t-tops, you would end up liking it a lot more..

that is true, i forgot he wanted to add t tops, just adding an aftermarket sun roof (the pop up ) is like 800 bucks or more. t tops will set u back a grand or 2 im sure after its all said and done. your now up to about 8 grand. never thought i would say it, but sell yours and take that extra money your about to save and get one that you really want, a engine swap is one thing but u want the inside re done and t tops added, u may be throwing money away doing all of that and it may cost u more than what its worth, but if your heart is set on it good luck
