Hi I own a 91 firebird. I have been trying for a while now to remove the shift knob on my bird. I can't find a screw a pin & it won't twist or pull off! it is a 5 speed manual. It is just a plane knob covered in a black rubber. Please help me out.

I pulled the boot down and attached a wrench to hold the shifter. Then I twisted the knob with all my might it didn't budge!

ok that didnt help much the pic is to small it looks like it could be threaded on or snaped on try puting an open end wrench under the knob and hit it up with a hammer see if that works not to hard though that is aluminum yer shifter is attached to

i have a 90 camaro/ it had a 5 speed before. knob was hard to remove. i had to put it in first gear, and twist it counter-clockwise. you'll need to use force to remove it. it will come off.

What did you use? just your hands? or a tool? isn't there a risk of turning it too hard and taring something up? I put a pipe wrench on the bottem too keep it from moving and then tried to turn the knob but it wouldn't budge
