Hi,
I have a 1999 Galant Viento GDI.
It's started making a knocking noise from the front of the vehicle which you can feel through the steering wheel and the floor.
Don't think it's suspension as it does it on a straight flat road.
The really weird thing is that it comes and goes. It's not there all the time. I haven't really been able to pinpoint exactly what triggers it, except that it's usually after long distance driving with lots of cornering.
Once it starts, it's also evident when the car is stationary and you move the steering wheel from side to side.
My feeling (and others) think it's something to do with the steering, but exactly what is unkown. And why does it usually not do it during short trips??
I've had a mechanic look at it and he can't find anything wrong.
Anyone got any ideas?? Could it be something to do with the power steering system??
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
mark.

Hey there , if you do a search for galant recalls you will find that there was a problem with a nut coming lose in the steering . i think (maybe wrong) that the dealer is obliged to fix this.
all the best.
by the way you have a gdi right ? if so you need this stuff , mine really showed an improvment after using it .

hey if theres a recall the dealer ship that sells mitsubishi has to fix it for free right?? cause i just got a 03 galanmt and there is a recall for them. somethin about a possible blockage coming from the fuel pump that can eventually bust if unchecked and can cause a fire. i know this may be off track but i just have that one question
