hi guys i have been offered a full Carbon hood, but it has never been laquered, its about 4-5 months old,
could i get it laquered by a normal garage and it still come out like they do new or would it not have the same look to it?

i dont want to buy it and it looks like ass when its laquered

By "laquered" you mean clear coat right? I would think you could pay a reputable body shop to spray a layer of clear coat over it and it would look pretty nice. It really depends on how much that would cost versus how much you could pick one up for already "laquered."

no....no.....no, if you wanna buy it for the wight and paint it that's cool. But you do not clear coat them hoods. The reasing is what give it that gloss look not clear coat. Here is a (pic) of my teg but my hood it fucked from the sun.

but like i said it's worth it if you just wanna paint it and put it on. I'll be painting mine red soon. I have buffed it and buffed it, wet sand and all and cant get the sun burn out.

Um, yes you do clear coat them, that makes them shiny and protects them against the sun.

My cousin makes things with carbon fiber, he fixed my hood when it was all smashed up

He stripped the clear off, layed CF in the deep scratches, and then re-cleared the hood and it looked better than new.

ok, but when you get them from a dealer, the resin goes through it and when they release the mold they wax and buff it. That is what makes it shine. I can't remeber where i seen them make one. I think is was a Super Street mag that they show you step by step. I guess you can clear coat it and that would be fine. Your cousin can do it so i guess it can be done. But it does not come factory with c-coat. It's apoxy resin and wax.

The only reason you want to clear coat the hood is to keep the sun from damaging it. The clear coat protects it from bubbling under the heat. I got mine a few months ago from VIS it was brand new from a shop and he told me to clear coat it so it wont bubble and look like @#$% in a couple of months especially with summer coming up

It is resin not clear coat. You can clear coat if you want. If you look at hoods and it says it comes with UV protectant that just means that shot it with a layer of clear.

I realize its resin in the cracks, but before I could get my hood back I had to wait for him to clear it first.
Clear coat your CF hood!
