Time For New Components

I was driving on the highway with the window open so I had to turn the volume up a bit to hear. It was at this point that I came to the decision that I need new components. After about 22 on the volume knob, it starts to get distorted, not to mention that most of the vocals can be heard in the back as opposed to the front.

I got a 96 Buick Regal, it takes 5.25's in the front and 6x9's in the back. What do you guys recommend, I wanna replace all 4 speakers? I wanna stay around $200 or less, $300 absolute tops, this includes shipping. All I want are clean loud vocals that won't drown out to the subs or distort when i turn the volume up, and the sound of the music/vocals to be evenly distributed through the car as opposed to mostly in the back. Finally, I want speakers that are in-stock, don't really wanna wait for backorder.

One last question....I know you guys are anti Best Buy and Circuit City for installs, but what about speaker installs? Can they be trusted? I don't know much about speaker installation, but I don't know who to take it to who will do a good job at a fair price. Hit me up with some suggestions.

Well if you really do want good sounds with components youll need to run them of a good amp. A good amp will cost anywhere from 100-150 buks on your budget. What im trying to get to is that your budget is not good. Save up to 400-500 then you can get a good amp, and just a very good front stage. Most dont use rear fills because it messes up imaging.

$400-500 for just front speakers and an amp? What kinda speakers and amp? Will vocals be loud enough with only front speakers, no rear? Also what does anyone think about the installation issue?

Look into some CDT components, and some CDT cl-6x for rear fill. As far as amplifiers, look for 150x2 rms. Then power the coaxials for the rear off of your HU. peace

having a set of speakers in the rear too does not add a lot to the total volume

Don said " EF-51 and cl-6x is 230 shipped, if u can do 6.5 upfront 235 and u get the ef-61, rears u need an adapter since they are 6.5" What do you guys think? Also any specific brands of amps that do 150x2?

Profile ca 600 has 150x2 if your going to run 4 speakers get the ca 640 its 75x4. I know theres better stuff out there but if you want to stay under 300 then profile makes good amps for a decent price. The ca is now some other name i havent bought an amp in a while but im thinking of running a xxx 15 so i need to start looking for something decent. As far as compnent speakers go your going to have spend money for something good, that goes for everything in car audio.
