Considering buying a '01

Finally had to give up on my 94 Cougar after puttin 3 trannies into it. I have a 95 altima that I use now an was planning on "ricing" it out a bit but I just found out I'm burnin oil. I can replace the engine in this for $1000 ( but really dont want to) OR...
Now Im considering an '01 cougar with 50k on it for about $9000. is it worth it and how many more miles should I expect from it. With work I average 250-500 miles a week. and dont want it to last only another year or 2
