I have a 99 camry with amplified speakers.
I wanna put subs in the trunk. But the problem is ...
I don't really know much about car audio.
So, I was wondering if you guys can recommend me a set (sub + amp)
I'm looking at about $400 to spend in total.
I know I'm trying to push it with 400 but...I'm not looking for a crazy bass here
Installation and everything, my friend can do so...
Give me some ideas on tat!
Thanks a lot.

You can get a damn decent setup with $400.
My recommendation is check out:
www.incriminatoraudio.com (LI series, call for direct pricing)
www.ascendantaudio.com (Atlas series)
www.soundsplinter.com (RL-p series)
All are great choices, each excelling a little in different areas! With those in mind, look into an amplifier that is 500-800 watts rms. As far as a box...build you own ported enclosure. I design custom ported enclosures...so if you need help hit me up. peace

Hmm...
Is there a difference between those brands and famous brands?
Like, I heard about Rockford, Alpine, and other famous brands and I don't know if they are good.
I never heard of them...not that I no a lot about them but...
And, What are ohms? Which Amps can I get?.
And also, how do I figure out the continuous power? I quiet didn't understand the Power: Bridged power x channels (4 ohms)...wat does that mean?
oh and I'm gonna have 2 subs...so i need 2 channel amps right?
P.S Sorry i'm a total newb. :(

the brand ng was talking about are like internet brand. I like to think of the as "HAND MADE" brands. In almost all cases these brands, are FAR better then what you will get with stuff like, kicker, audibahn, infinity, alpine, so on and so on. Take NG's advice and go with what he recomends, he knows what he is talking about. As far as an amp goes, i would get a hifonics bx1000d its a great amp for the price.

Most of those won't work well with a bx1000d not to mention the 1000's are very overrated. Also check out SE's from RE Audio at www.reaudio.com. I would do a single ported 15. Ohms are the resistance of the coils.... since most subs are dual voice coil your final load of one sub will either be double or half the value of one coil...... for example dual 4 ohm can wire to 2 or 8 ohms.......... dual 2 ohm can wire to 1 or 4 ohms.

creative33, to learn more about amps and power and everything, check out www.bcae1.com
That site does a pretty decent job of explaining things.

if you only want to spend 400 on a system so you can have a little bass. i say go with the alpine type r 10". they are a little over $100 each. pretty much any small amp will work. they are dual 4 ohm if i remember correctly. so you shouldn't have any problems finding the proper amp. it doesn't take alot of power to push these so dont think you have to spend alot of money.

Wow..thanks for ur replies! O_O
Well. I'm thinking of getting 2 subs...cuz I like them in a box...
Why shouldn't I listen to germanyt?
And, If I get a 200 Watt subs, do I need 200 Watt amps? or something higher? I heard from someone that it's not good to push it, and it's better to play safe...
And is 200 Watt ok? I have a stock sub that came with the car and i dunno how much that is. I wanna compare them to see how much 200 watt really is.
I'm slowly learning some stuff here...hehe
thanks guys!

Well, if you insist on TWO subwoofers...stick to one of the three I recommended in my original post! They are great QUALITY companies, you're paying for a quality product...not just a name plastered on a mediocre product.
So, decide which pair of subwoofers you want...THEN we can also help you decide on the proper amplifier! peace

I checked out the LI series, and they seem to be $229 per piece? I think that's already over $400 for a pair...RL-P series are like $422 a pair... I can only afford ~$400
Atlas ones look ok. price is $149 each...
I guess Atlas one is the best choice there...about $300 for a pair...and then an amp

type r isnt bad for a mainstream sub, as long as you could get it at a good price. id still stick with what ng and bumpin recommend though
you could do 2 atlas 12s and a profile amp.. like ca600m or soemthin.. but look for something that puts out 5-600 watts rms @ 2 ohms if you go with the atlas pair. id highly recommend these subs if you can afford them. everyone who owns one says its the cleanest sounding, most accurate sub you could get for the price. and i hear it gets pretty loud too for the $.
you could also just go with one sub if you dont need that much output. check out edesignaudio.com and check out their package deals.. they might still be under construction but still at least check out the kv.2 series. a couple 13 kv.2s would sound great and pound.

I looked at this Infinity KAPPA 100.3DVC 10" Dual-Voice-Coil Subwoofer...and it seems like it's good for the price. I'm about to make a decision now ...
I'm just putting in a ok subs for now since i think i'm gonna be selling this car soon. my friend wants subs in it so, and he just wants about 300rms.I'll be sellin my car wit the subs and amps.
It's $69.99 for a piece at etronics, and I just want to hear the last opinion on it.
Oh and wat amp will be good wit that infinity?

They suck.....that is....comapared to what we have recommended...
PLEASE check out...
www.incriminatoraudio.com (187 series, call for direct pricing...should be near that price range!)
www.reaudio.com (RE Series, even more inexpensive...better than the infinities)
