my son just purchased a 94 passport v6 4x4 automatic.it seems to be very well kept and looks and runs well for a car with over 135k on it.but i noticed 1 problem with it.when you shift the car into reverse it seems to take a few seconds before it engages.other than this the tranny shifts fine not slipping in any of the forward gears.the fluid also appears clean.and none of the sensor lights are on.one of the local backyard repair guys said it may need a reverse band adjustment.any other info would be appreciated.

Is the tranny fluid full? Check in park, engine running at operating temp.

If so, you just might need that adjustment.

I would first have the tranny flushed properly

thanks for the info.tranny fluid was at level.but i figured a tranny flush wouldn't hurt.but i didn't help.any other ideas?and if not is the reverse band adjustment difficult.i think i remember with some older transmissions this adjustment could be done without droping the pan.any luck that this is the same?again any help is really appreciated.
