blinkers too fast

1998 escorts blinkers are going too fast ,I've changed the flasher but it didn't help. Any sggestions?

I'm not familiar with "blinkers" and "flashers" but did you check to see if there is any blown signal light bulb?

My :2cents:
1. Turn on your signal light/s and walk around the vehicle to see what bulbs are not working.
2. Some vehicles have two flasher units, one for turn signals the other for hazard flashers. Check both systems for comparision.
3. Alternator overcharging will cause a more rapid flasher rate.

I experienced the same problem when one of my turn signal bulbs burned out. I replaced the bulb and the flashing returned to normal.

I found the problem today as I checked the front bulbs and found them to be fine. When I took the rear lens out of both sides(with some difficulty) I went to the auto parts store and bought four new bulbs and installed them. There was no corrision no where but the problem I found was that one of the prior owners installed a 3057 bulb instead of 3157! All the tail light bulbs should be 3157, dont mix bulbs or you will have problems like I had. Thanks to all you guys out there I've saved hundreds of dollars buy not haveing to take it to a repair shop. Thanks again. Cappy

Well, let me ask you this: does only one side of the car blink fast or is it both sides? The reason I ask is if you r car originally requires HEAVY DUTY bulbs and you put in "regular" ones, the regular ones will flash faster than the heavy duty ones. The same is true for the opposite, if your car requires normal bulbs but you "accidentally" install heavy duty bulbs, the heavy duty bulbs will flash faster. This is due to less resistance inside the bulb.

thats why i never assume and when asking this forum for help I alway go with the basics and open minded check of any suggestions in case i miss something. great to hear you figured it out
