On the driverside down near the steering colomn there should be a hole.. or just run it through the original grommet where all the OE wiring goes through

You won't find a hole to feed a 4ga wire through. The passanger compartment is sealed from the engine compartment so you will have to drill a hole in the firewall. Start with a small bit and drill a pilot hole so you are sure that the location is ok on both sides...

That's where my amp wire was run. That's the brake pedal to the right. They just reached up to where the carpet ended, pulled it down along with the padding, and drilled the hole there. It was done by Circuity City Road Shop back in 98-99. The wires there now are for my fan switch. I don't know if this helps you or not, but it's the best I can do.

actually on the passenger side if u take off the panel under the dash where your computer is there is some insulation type stuff that is beside the wheel well and u can fit your wire through it and run it on the inside of the well behind the cover and in under your hood and make it to the battery no problem thats what i did to run a .5 guage wire and its almost the diameter of a quater if not the same size...sorry i dont have a pick cause i never bought the cable for my digital video camera but its right behind the passenger kick panel look and u should find it....pm me if u need more help w/ your system

Idk abotu 3rd gens but on mine, look on the passenger side foot area. Peel back the carpet and maybe some insulation, there's a grommet that leads to the engine bay below the ECU.
The passanger compartment is sealed from the engine compartment so you will have to drill a hole in the firewall Of course it's not completely, common sense tells you this... the computer is in teh engine bay while the guages, radio, HVAC, light switches ETC are in teh passenger area...

Is it a real bad idea to run an amp under the car? I ran mine down from the battery, on the inside of the lip at the bottom of the doors, and up through the rubber gormet under the back seat. I haven't had any trouble from it yet, it's been in about a year. I just have a small small system though.

no actually alot of people run the power wire under the car...because the further it is away from the rca wires the less inerferance u get. as long as its secure and not just hangin there u shouldnt have anything to worry about unless u scrape it and rub the protective sleeve off of the wire

put some split tubing around it and it should be fine.

alright i got it, there's a small hole right above the stearing column, so i drilled that out ran it below the carpet and then all the way behind the back seats to the trunk. came out prty good, u cant even tell.

i didnt want to start a new thread but... when you do hook up amps, do u have to use a certain gauge wire? and do u have to run ground directly to the battery? or can you ground to the frame or some other ground connection??

Genopsyde

Yes, you need a certain gauge wire, and that depends on the amp's wattage. And you ground to the chassis, not directly to the battery.

i actually have my amp in the spare tire compartment back in the hatch. i have my ground connected to the seatbelt harnesses and it works great. just a thought.

ya i hooked a 4g wire all the way thru the firewall down by the seatbelt thingy all the way to behind the backseats. then i grounded it a lil bit by the seatbelt. then i ran the other wires where i ran the first wire execpt under the carpet to the console, it wasnt that hard.

I grounded mine to the bracket for the t-top back straps.
