My friend is getting a 83' and he asked me if there was any performance parts for it so i came here to ask the guys that actually know. He wants to buy a supercharger but are there any for his current engine? He wants to achieve a quicker acceleration. Should he consider a engine swap or would bolt ons or something else work well? If the engine swap is a must which engine should he invest in? Thanks in advance guys.

Well it really depends, If the trucks that old im sure the engine really has a lot of miles on it. Tossing a supercharger into it is just a waste of money. What kind of engine and what kind of miles are we talking. You can get AIRRAID air intakes, Edelbrock shorty headers, Flowmaster exhaust, MSD distributors, Performence a lot of parts it really depends. As far as a engine swap 350, 383 and a 454 if it would fit.

Yah, thats really broad...give us more details what he has. For starters a carb and intake, then headers and exhaust. A good posi and gears will also improve acceleration and traction.

I looked at the crate engines from edelbrock and are they worth it? I think his engine will probably die soon so i wanna suggest to him to swap in a new engine. How much money are we talking here because i'm pretty sure he's on a tight budget. Would he have to swap trannies? Any help would be appriciated! Thanks guys.
