My prelude SI is runing great with its stock engine I drove it about 135mph and it has over 170,000 miles and i want it to go faster then that so i want to upgrade it and install either v6 or v4 with turbocharger , either one would work and i dont know if they make the turbocharger for my prelude89 or not but even if they do i still want upgrade on my engine. so my question is can somebody tell me which engines can fit into my 89prelude si, the engines i am looking for are v6 or v4 with turbocharger or just v4 then i will upgrade it to turbocharger. if anybody can help me i would appreciate a lot , tx

alot will fit... what do you wanna spend?
go to www.ludespeed.com and talk to tom there...
he will get you an idea...
or go to www.placeracing.com to find out what it costs for the parts to make an h22 fit... then talk to ludespeed and price a turbo...

keep in mind though, that your cams and trans, are maxed out at 140... if you wanna go faster, you need to get different cams...

talk to www.gude.com about that one... bill is the guy there...

Well, I dunno if you'll have much luck finding a V4 engine to put in it, but I can suggest some inline 4 cylinders. I'll start with the easiest platform to install. The H22A, which comes out of newer model vtec ludes is a very popular swap for the 3g lude. Many companies actually make bolt-in kits for this engine. Next would be the b16a, which comes out of the 99-00 Civic Si. Another highly popular swap with the 88-91 prelude Si's is a JDM spec B20A (U.S.'s B20A5, which is the one you have in now.) This has about 15 hp more than the U.S. spec B20A5. There is a website that can get you that motor plus all the installation hardware needed for under 800 dollars. 6 cylinder wise, I'm sure the V6 Accord motor would fit in, but it definitely would not be easy. You'd have to cut alot of sheetmetal out of the engine bay, and plus it would make the ride of your car horrible. I hope this helped in some way. If you want to make the engine you have in there now run better, then contact gude, and get one of their performance packages, then get a 100-150 shot of nitrous. ;)

sidenote...
a b16 is a waste in the lude, b/c it is so heavy.

a b16 or h22 is popular in a civic, but i have never seen a b16 in a lude b/c it is tq less.

no one in their right mind would drop a b16 in a lude.
