Questions About GTR's in General

I have a few questions really. It would be great if some people that have experience in what I ask could clue me in.
First, I know that the only way to legally import a GTR into the states is through Motorex. But I have a 2000 R34 GT-R in Australia which my long time friend is putting together for me.
He, being a tuner, can do a lot of modifications for me for very cheap. BUT, the people at motorex tell me that the car can not be heavily modified because that will make it impossible for them to have it pass the emissions tests. Since the mods coming from him will be so much cheaper than any mods I have done in the States, I would like to perform as many as possible over there. That leads me to my question.
What are all the mods that I CAN have done over there, ones which won't have a significant effect on the emissions, but will come in handy at a later date.
Also, what modifications should i start with for performance?

You would be best off talking with MotoRex and finding out. I know there are a few guys from the States that visit our regular forums that have GTR's but have done the mods themselves or had it done over there. That is a big killer of getting these cars in over there. One possible thought is bring it in under a race car banner. Keep as that for like 6 months to a year then get transfer it over to regular status. Only a though.

Hey man ,, well if its only going to be the emissions problem than your fine ,, do any engine mods you want or need ,,, and have 2 Exhuasr Pipes let your friend Send you the HIGH preformance one and the secound just install 3 catalyct converts for the car this will reduce A LOT OF Exhuast fumes ,, this exhuast will not be for preformance it will only be for the emissions test you have in the states ....
