I just had a really quick question. Does the odometer on 92 ford explorers only go to five digits. (such as 81,000 miles)? Does the odometer start over again at 0 once the engine gets to 99,999? Or does it actually keep counting to six digits (100,000+)?
I was interested in buying a ford explorer but wanted to make sure I understood the mileage correctly on it. Thanks a lot.

Up until like 93 or some 94's they only had 5 digit speedometers. My 94, I think, was built in late 93 because it has a 5 digit speedo and some 94's have six digit. On a 92 it would be only 5. Good Luck

It does only go to five digits. Mine has 219,000 miles on it and only shows 19,000. You should be able to tell by looking at the motor and interior. Believe me, if it has 200,000 miles on it it is pretty worn down interior wise.

My 92 Explorer has 226,000 miles but the previous owner took care of the interior but you can always look at prior paperwork to see what they have listed for mileage.
