What do you guys reccomend for racing

What do you think about a gsx doubleclutching worth it or not??? What rpm's should I shift at and it what gear. Or all the gears at same rpm's???

I wish there was a movie called "un-The Fast and the Furious" that eliminated all of the bullshit that the real flick put into people's heads.

its good for slowing down for stop lights when downshifting. or slowing down off the freeway. other then that. just aint too usefull

Rev matching is better suited to these things than double-fisting. At least in modern synchromesh gear boxes. Little less wear on the clutch as a side benefit.

What I mean by double clutching is like, if your in 2nd gear and the other person is beating you, keep on flooring the gas pedal and ten the clutch press it again and it will get you to higher rpm's also. I raced a Nissan Sentra it was an 03 or an 04 it was fast!!!! He would pass me on a rolling start. We raced like 5 times but it was rolling start and he would be passing me all the time no matter what I did. At start off ofcourse I would kill him but I got no speed for the long run. So then we raced again a rolling start, around 40miles then floor it and I did "double clutch"
My meaning of it and I beat him like half a car length. What he had was just a typhoon intake and k&n filter.

The lag while not transferring power, wear on your flywheel and clutch, etc should be enough to scare you off.
Again, someone asks a question and ignores the responses by "senior" members. Yay automotiveforums.com.

Its simple. If the clutch is in, you are not accelerating. Unless you are falling, off a cliff perhaps.

lol one of the ads i see with this thread is "learn to drive stick shift proven downloadable courses to learn how to drive a stick shift car" lmfao
what you need to do is go and buy a real car preferably an automatic since you dont know how to drive.

Listen. I could explain to you using physics why this is the dumbest thing that I have ever heard, but I don't want to waste my time. Do your car a favor and don't "double clutch" or whatever you want to call the bullshit you just explained. It doesn't make you faster, will wear your clutch, and if you tell people that you do it, makes you look stupid.
DOUBLE CLUTCHING IS NOT A RACING TECHNIQUE. Read the god damned post at the top to learn what it is.

Sounds similar to a technique called feathering the clutch sometimes used when riding dirtbikes and the like. 2 Strokes have a mean power band at a very specific RPM. Sometimes downshifting will put you in the meat of it, and on a steep hill it can mean sliding ass first down that hill. But the current gear may not provide enough torque multiplication to get the job done. So you feather the clutch a bit to raise rpms, but still put power to the wheel.
Yeah, its not for cars. :)

double clutching slows you down way to much and isnt worth the loss and be careful when you dump the clutch going into 2nd and 3rd gear because you could bust a universal joint and mess up your pressure palte and throwuot barrings so be careful how you launch off the line

I think hes actually talkin about a sort of power shifting...i do that with the laser. take off from first, when shifting to 2nd, and so on, push in the clutch, but keep the pedal to the floor, ive practiced alot, if you dont shift fast enough youll redline. But doing that without shifting...is dumb. Something like momentum x -velocity= you suck.

So basically you keep the gas pedal to the floor put in the clutch, dont lift your foot off the gas, shift, and let out the clutch again?
yeah, that doesnt sound like the greatest idea to me, as said above. I hate F&F, it destroyed the custom car world.

Say your in second gear the other car is beating cuz hes at higher rpm's and he is pulling away.... leaving the gas floored you push the clutch so you can go to higher rpm's. You wont be red lineing it because its just like if you barely shift to second gear your going to be around 4000rpm's and you press the clutch and it will take you up to around 5000 or 5500 rpm's right away and the rpms will also go higher faster. And if you didnt then well it will be slower to get you up there. That is considered double clutching isnt it you used the clutch twice in the same gear.

You car is not moving as though you were going that fast, so you rpms are just going to drop again, or else your tires will spin. think about what you said, it does not make any sense. what is the fastest way to accelerate? it is not holding the clutch in, rev it up, dump the clutch and repeat!!
Double clutching was already defined in this thread, go and read it.

It works very well if you know what your doing, i dont especially care to use it in a drag, but in SOLO 1, its real good after a sharp turn to get you up to speed. Yes the RPMS will drop again, but there so high that it brings your speed up faster, sorta. Hard to explain. Only do it when shifting....if you just do it while your driving you look like an ass.

Try it going 0-80mph. Try it just normal shifting and then try it like I said. Its just a faster way to get your rpms up there.
