I have a 2001 Kia Optima that has a bad speed sensor. The dealer wants 200 bucks to change it but AutoZone has them for only $69 dollars. I had heard it’s not hard to change it but can anyone tell me where it is on my car? Or point me to a web site that has a photo of it? Need a tip please.

That's a link to a pdf file that has some general info on the speed sensor and what it looks like. It should be somewhere on the transmission and i'm not even sure where it is on my spectra right now unless I go outside and look... not sure about difference in location between auto and manual either...

but the good thing is the new part will generally come with a little diagram that should help you locate it and i don't imagine it would be too hard to do, i say go for it.

anybody else?
