2001 Passat turn signals don't work

My turn signals just decided to stop working. Initially they would work for about 2 or 3 blinks and then just stop. Now they don't work at all. Everything else seems to be working, however. I read in an earlier thread that this sounds like a relay switch and I wanted to see if I could try replacing it on my own. The car being discussed in the earlier thread was a 99 model and the relay switches and fuses were together under the dash. In the 2001, the fuse box is located on the side of the dash (you have to open the drivers side door to open it), but the relays are not there. Does anyone know where they are and if you can access them or do you have to have a mechanic do it?

Emergency flasher switch is faulty-controls blinkers believe it or not.

Agreed.....the hazard warning switch is faulty. It can be a fiddle to replace without damaging the dashboard, so be careful!
