Kindof down in the land of f-bodies.. my car has been taking a crap left and right on my lately guys.. i'm starting to have my doubts about even being able to afford a new car now. Do you guys think i should keep my plan and buy a Trans Am or give in and buy something that's good on mileage and wont kill my pocket book?

*its always been my dream to own a beefed up V8.. but now im not so sure its gonna happen... any input please guys..

as much as i love V8 F-body's I hafta give you an honest opinion...Get something economical until you're financially stable enuff to get a LS1 car.

I'd say a cheap, reliable econobox until you can afford the 8

eh.. i dont want a cheap reliable car though... (what do you want me to do buy an Eclipe?) its either a 4X4 SUV so i dont die goin out to the farm or the TA... guess it all depends on how it goes friday at the bank...

Purely because no one else has suggested it yet, Id say go with the V8 Trans Am. You may be eating Roman Noodles for a while, but at least you'll get to Walmart faster :rofl:

you have to decide what you want in life. If you like having a lot of money to throw around and spend without thought be like most kids and get a honda. But if you want to put your money to good use you can afford a V-8 with a job. My first car is a Z28 and i just don't spend money like i used to. I'm actually saving more money now than when i was when i didn't have the car.

Yeah, just because you buy a used econobox doesn't mean it'll be trouble free. Any repairs you can't do will cost the same per hour as a V-8 car and parts are relatively as expensive. It could be more costly than a less troublesome V-8 car.

There are just some cars you wouldn't want to be associated with or seen in, like all of us. Choose wisely.

yeah man i know things may be hard i cant get my ls1 untill after the summer you gotta pick your spots in life get what you can handle, no need to get something you want and cant afford it then have to give it back thats the worse, it may sound corny but one thing i have found in my many travels all over the world and my now 30yrs in life sometimes waiting is the best thing to do.

Kieft... i know what you want to hear.... GO BUY THE TA! .... you will just be kicking yourself later on if you dont buy it... your getting a good deal and it works for your life style..... the TA will be good on gas(probably around 20mpg) ...... so go get it.....

imoh, patience is a virtue. you can get yourself an economical car and save up to buy your dream car. the ends justifies the means, you have a cheap efficient car then you can save money and work up to what you really want in a car. you will prolly be more satisfied that way, rather than ending up with a car you like, but dont love...

Im with John here, get what u want or u might regret it later. I would take the risk and get the TA and figure the rest out later. U say ur car now is taking crap left and right the TA couldn't be anyworse. But like i said to before test drive it first.

well, thats it.. i cant afford it now.. my car went ape shit for a final time and is gonna cost me over 500 to fix. my parents hate me because i have to borrow money, i cant get a loan from the bank because i only have 2 part time jobs and not 1 full time job, although im working 60 hrs a week combining the two instead of 40 at one... MAKES NO SENSE.. and im seriously considering shooting someone or something at this point.. sorry guys for losing my temper.. but i am finally realizing that the world is only out to screw people...

yes, i beleive the world is only out to screw people too...i had a money hungry '95 Camaro right out of high school. had her for three years and i can't tell you how much i (my parents) put into her. my friend got a small SUV and i decided that i wanted one as well instead of keeping my paid off Camaro. BIG MISTAKE!!!! i hated that stupid thing and didn't even keep it a full year and i ended up trading it in for my red baby that i have now. so i'm with the guys that said to get the ta....just my opinion anyway :biggrin:

an economical car doesn't have to be a honda... you can get some kind of economical american car... in fact i think that u should check out the cobalt ss and the saturn ion redline... my mom's GTP got wooped by a stock redline the other day, the redline also gets around 30mpg while being dent resistant...

i forgot to metion... i also watched the same redline beat 2 different 5.0 stangs from 40mph rolls... the car is no joke...

You should keep your car till you get enough money to buy a TA. I'm about 500 in debt right now, was a lot more, and I'm only getting about 20-25 hours a week. I just love my car enough to tighten up and spend money on it only. I had to borrow 600 from my mom the other day, just after I paid 520 for an engine. It sucks being in debt, but it's worth it just to own a Camaro.

that car is nuts....and hooter chicks on your car is always a good thing, i may end up having that happen this month ill be at some car event at a hooters in the area, the guys that went last year said they had chicks all over their rides....

that plus i just found out the redline supercharger runs at 12 psi stock, compared to the gtp's 7 psi, that makes a huge difference too

believe it or not, the hoods on third gen's are pretty easy to bend... they might scratch my car w/ their nails... and i'm being serious, i didn't spend money on a paint job for a girl to mess it up, no matter how good she looks, and if she gets mad about that then she's not a girl i wanna be involved w/ cuz she can't respect cars...
