01 Focus exhaust tube

I had a tube carrying exhaust crack at the manifold. It is silver looking and as you FACE the engine from the front, it comes off the right side and angles 90 degrees heading towards the firewall. This was noticed when I heard a "ticking" noise that was accompanied by exhaust in the passenger compartment. The car had exceeded the 36k/3yr warranty and I had to pay to have this fixed. The technician knew it was a faulty part and stated he had replaced them on other cars. His boss was standing there giving me a bunch of crap on how they would not cover it even though it was beyond the warranty. I asked them, "what am I supposed to do to prevent this from happening?" Neither could give me an answer.
Ford KNOWS these parts are faulty. My computer technician KNOWS it is faulty. His boss KNOWS it is faulty. But I have to pay $120 to get it fixed. I think Ford should pay this. I called Ford who told me "to bad". Has anyone else had success in getting reimbursed? They told me there may be a recall if 50,000 other people have a problem. I am concerned that the supplier only sent 49,999 bad tubes and I will be out of luck!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you have about as much chance of getting a Ford dealer (or many other dealers for that matter) to replace a part for free beyond warrenty, as I do of getting an STi in the next month. Write a letter or call Ford HQ to see if they're willing to do anything at all, which I doubt that they will. You can file a complaint with Ford, so it will at least be in their records in case this pops up again in the future. Is their any warrenty on the new manifold?
