Ok I just got my self a free 1993 cherokee sport 4.0L auto as a gift i was renting the car from my folks being i had wiring blow on my hatch they said just take it I was like OMG WOW *bows for hours*
so me being pretty blessed with this nice truck *not in best of shape but who cares it's freaking free!* i want to play with it a bit very mild. When i say not in best of shape the lights in the car don't work at night just never have and we've been told short of rewiring whole thing they won't. *no speedo at night stinks* The motor runs strong *albiet needs an oil change* and tranny shifts well. It stinks like smoke *y parents are smokers not the vechile is there a way to get this out?
Also with me playing with it i want to keep costs down mildly tune it and keep it still able to have some winter use *I plan it to be my winter ride*
I've looked a bit is there a mild drop for the jeep like 2 inches or less? I just find lift kits.
Also any free, cheap or OEM mods *eg run a differnt jeep's intake mani* to do on this thing?
Last thing Any rims out there for jeep that are non chrome? I want a tough but clean look on it also what tires are good for this jeep? good year wranglers SUCK.

I will pretend you just didnt ask where to find a drop kit for the Cherokee.
But yes - there are many bolt on mods you can do but some arent cheap.

well i'm used to crisp handling. And well the closest i get to offroading around me is a pot hole.
I figured why not be different i never have seen a lowered jeep *other then bagged*
I'm pretty car handy but don't want the car to go under the knife big until my hatch is running again. Whats my gear ratio 3:55 correct?
thanks for all the help

I have yet to come across lowering kits for the XJ.
I beleive that gear ratio is correct.

Hmmm...
Maybe take a torch and heat your front coils, then lay down the back seat and fill 'er up with concrete blocks and drive it that way for about a month.
Self made lowering kit...cheap.

i heard they are pretty good but i couldent tell you for sure.if i wuz you i would spend a little bit of $$$$$ and get air bags instead of lowering it.

Now there's a thought! I put air shocks on the back of mine and I like it. I didn't have to put much air in, but any soggy action from the back end is gone and I don't get much squat when I load her up... Look for Gabriel 49226

You have been "GIVEN"a legend, treat it as so :bigthumb:
You don't neccesarily have to lift it,but please DON'T SLAM IT"
Doing this will anger the JEEP GODS.and they will rain pestalance and evil on you.....the JEEP GODS are constantly watching,so beware :grinno:
There are several sites around that deal with what your asking about do some searching looking around ask a buncha questions, then make your decision.
