Locked Out

Hey everyone, having an issue, my roommate is sure she accidentally locked the keys in the truck of my 98' Lumina. AAA is not able to get into the trunk without destroying the lock, and it does not come with a trunk release in the cabin. Any thoughts on how I might be able to get back there without destroying anything? The AAA guy said something about removing the backseat, but that still leads me to belive that I'd have to ruin the backwall of the trunk.

Nope, popping off the back seat doesn't screw up the trunk.

Look under the bottom of the seat, on each side there will be a bolt that goes into the body. Just pop those out, pull the seat towards the front, and then you'll be able to get to two more bolts on the back of the seat. Unbolt those and lift the entire back up and towards the front of the car, and huzzah. You've got pass-through trunk access!

.........of course, this is only helpful if the doors are open/unlocked. Otherwise you'll have to slim jim the door open.

Just another thought, for about $25-$30 you can put the factory trunk release system in your car. I've got a tutorial on my website with pics showing how. Its definitely worth a look into buying the parts (I use it TONS).

Thank you for that, got the seat bottom off, took a little work on the seat back, had to lift and pull to get it over the latches. Keys, luckily, were there, so that crisis is gone, but now I can't seem to get the seat back to get back into the hooks. *laughs* half of this can be contributed to the nice flu I have going, so until then, I'm driving a 2-seater. Thanks again for the help on that though, it's really appriciated.

You gotta play games with the seat back to get it to go back into the hooks. It took me about ten minutes of wrestling just to get mine back in how it was.
