Tahoe Fuel Filter Change

Hi guys, I'm about to take a long trip and have been experiecing some rough starts. I was advised to change my fuel filter on my 97 tahoe and was told it was located in the back on the railing somewhere. I wanted to know if there was a standard procedure, if I need to buy any tools and if I need to drain the fuel somehow...also, do i need to change any rings, seals, etc...while this is being done ?

I just replaced mine . Mine is located along the inside part of the frame , under the driver door(97 tahoe 4 door). Looks like a little canister . I can't remember the size wrenches I used but the job can be acomplished with 2 adjustable open end wrenches (crescent wrench). Make sure the ignition key is not in the "on" position other wise you'll have pressure in the line. You will spill a little gas but its minimal. Just be careful and use common sense. Good luck

You really need to get into the habit of changing that filter every 15K or less. Otherwise you'll be cruising down the road and the fuel pump will take a dump on you like it did to my son, stranding him on the Freeway. I change mine pretty religiously, it is a understated but extremely important part of the maintenance for your vehicle. I have 65K on my suburban and I am on my 6th filter.

16mm and 20mm wrenches are the right size. make sure the o-rings don't fall off the lines, make sure the new filter is pointing the right way. if you don't want to spill any gas on yourself pull the fuel pump fuse while the engine is running and wait for it to die.

Can somebody tell me which fuse is the correct one for the fuel pump on a 2002 Z-71 tahoe 4X4, trying to change my filter.
