Made a start on this today.
Changed the wheels from what was in the kit to OZ Racing wheels and a small lowering job.
Interior has been painted today in a mix of grey's and body assembled waiting for a sand and prime.

I don't know Pman, I think those rims are in need of a nice chrome lip. What color are you going to paint the body?

Yep....not much to this kit so it will be a fairly basic build just to try and get some kits finished :eek7:

Indeed, like Honoturtle says, maybe some chrome lip for the rims. But that's just IMO.
Maybe with the color on it, it I will have to change that opinion...... :icon16:

Nice project, no feelings for wheels. Deep dish would look bit better on this car.

Nice start Warren, what colour is it going to be ?

primera man
03-08-2005, 02:29 AM
Painted this today with 5 coats of Tamiya Lavender.
Colour is quite hard to get right as its quite thick but is hard to cover on some parts of the body.
It was hard to get the paint to apply around some of the panel lines but this shouldn't be a problem as they should go away once some lines are added.
Paint has a nice deep look to it the more coats you apply .

Smile and wave to the PMan :evillol: :evillol: :evillol:

After much speculation I've come to the conclusion that indeed you're whording a secret on your technique of painting.

I'm not the greatest with a rattle can but I'm no slouch. Yet, my coats don't come showroom finish when applied like someone I know.

Don't mind me, Warren. I'm just hatin'. Kidding! I love the finish. sheesh......always envious of your technique.

I like the color. I had a paint problem like that. How it runs away from the panel lines...How can you fix it? Keep up the great work!

Dukeman...the Camaro is on hold for awhile as i wait for a few cans of paint to arrive in store..PS...The camaro in your sig is awesome. I saw the building of it on T.V a few weeks back...love to own that bad boy. :smokin:

blubaja.....I should have used a darker primer instead of the white as this would have stopped the problem.

Attacked this kit again today.
Body got a good rub with compound and a polish. More then happy how this one has turned out.
Played around with different wheel combo's and finally ended up with these.
Interior has been done. No flash colors, just a mix of grey's and black again. Nice, simple and clean.

Got back into trying and finishing this kit of today after getting back from holiday. Spent some time on panel lines and polishing which has helped take away some of the white-ish lines where the paint didn't apply to well around the panel lines.

sweet:) I just found out a trick for that kind of problem! Drain out some paint from the can and lightly airbrush those parts, then go and paint the rest with the spray can:) Worked soo nicely on this dark red Civic I am working on as we speak:)

Got the lights in and fitted. Not a great fit and needed to have a small amount sanded out to get the rears to fit. They have been kristal cleared in place so no paint got onto the chrome lens.
Grill and windows completeted.

Hey, very nice job on the color! I used the same color about a year ago on a 71 Hemi Cuda and i didnt have as much of a problem with the panel lines cause i used gray primer. Although i did have some gray showing and all i needed to do is add a few coats. Anyways the color is very easy to use and it has no orange peal. Heres mine with no polishing, sanding or compound on it.
