I Have A 91 Delta 88 That Wont Start. Yesterday Started Fine And Ran Well. Now Wont Start At All.turn Ignition And Motor Just Spins, Spins And Spins/ When I Release The Ignition Will Backfire.i Replaced The Spartplugs And Coil Module. I Loosened The Gas Line To The Injector Assembly And Plenty Of Gas.i Replaced The Oxygen Sensor.yesterday Afternoon Wouldnt Start But Continued Off And On Spinning The Motor (with Help Of Jumper Cables) It Finally Cranked. Ran Ok For A Bit Then Seemed To Lose Power. Would Run Ok At Certain Positions Of The Throttle But If I Tryed In Increase The Throttle Very Much Would Just Lose Power Until I Decreased The Gas And Just Had To Ease On It.Today I sprayed some starter fluid in the throttle body, hit the ignition and still just spins.Didn't even try to start.Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Check the throttle position sensor. I am having similar problems with my '89 Olds 98. It takes a long time to start, idles rough while in drive, and is irractic some time during ranges of throttle. In the winter it was almost imposible to start without being plugged in first a problem i never encountered on my '87 olds 98. I had changed the plugs, wires and never got a service engine soon light warning, i also had the fuel system serviced and was told it was getting gas. In research elsewhere that the symptons are indicative of potential throttle sensor failure, along with really lousy gas milleage. I am having a diagnostic test done tomorow and the mechanic is pretty sure that is my problem. He just wants to be certain prior to changing things. I hear autozone will do free diagnostic if you are in the States. If you are located in Canada find a good local mechanic they generally only charge 25-50 dollars a dealer or crappy-tire will charge 100 and up

Hello! Instead of removeing fuel line to see if you are getting fuel to engine,I would invest in a fuel pressure gauge. There is a scherader valve at the fuel rail(Looks like valve where you would put air into a tire). It should have a plastic cap on it. Remove cap install fuel gauge, and turn key on to run position. You do not need to start engine.Gauge should read around 40-45 psi.It is alot safer than having gas spray all over your engine.Just one spark is all it would take to have a disaster on your hands! You can pickup a gauge at any auto parts store for around $20.00-$30.00 dollars. Its a small price to pay to be safe!!It will come with universal adapters,So it can be used on many different makes and models of cars. Be safe!! And have a good day.. Diesel1962
