i know i'm not alone here. who else LOVES to go fucking insane in a mosh pit?
i went to Taste of Chaos on friday. i went crazy during A Static Lullaby's set.
and then during Underoath's set (creamed my pants when they came on stage), my foot got wedged in between 2 other guy's legs, and then someone shoved me, so my ankle got wrenched. result? broken ankle.
:D
stupid thing was, i moshed the rest of Underoath's set, which probably didn't help it at ALL. hurt so bad, i had to stand on the sidelines for the rest of the acts.
war wounds rock.

I prefer doing the one man mosh pit type thing right up on the front rail. Gives me something to hold onto to make sure I don't fall. Case in point: went to the Static-x concert in Cleveland last year. Nobody was showing any emotion at all except me...I was doing the one man mosh pit. The band obviously noticed cuz they were all throwing picks at me after the show.
I probably looked like a fucking retard, but it felt good that night. Next morning was a different story.

I don't think any pit can match the insanity I saw at the Dillinger Escape Plan / Every Time I Die show.

Never seen one of their pits, but I have a vid of a Slayer pit where literally the whole floor was a pit. Not just a few little groups of people moshing, the whole fucking floor was except for the front rail.

It's part of being in a mosh pit, getting pushed around. Man up and deal with it, or go sit in the back with the girls.

agreed. a mosh pit is not about getting hurt. it's about going crazy during good music. you'll find that people in mosh pits are actually out to help each other most of the time. if you fall, someone will always grab you and help you up within 3 seconds of you falling. if you get visibly hurt, people will stop thrashing around to ask if you're ok. if someone accidentally does more damage to you then they mean to, they will usually apologize for it.
then there's people like you. someone like that came into the pit at Taste of Chaos on friday. we were all thrashing around, having a good time in the circle pit, when these 2 guys come in. one, a big fat guy, was holding the other on his back by linking arms with him. the guy on his back was simply kicking. they ran around the mosh pit, kicking everyone in the face, stomach, arms etc.
this is not the point of moshing. this is just stupidity. once we had stopped them, all of us who were there before he showed up (5 or 6 of us big guys), grabbed the little guy and literally chucked him out of the pit. his big friend laughed and said he had no idea that his friend was going to be such a dick, then went to find him.
take it easy. everyone is there to have fun, and if you can't take a little harmless shoving, then do all of us fun-seekers a favor by staying out of mosh-pits.

I guess some people will just never understand the thrill of a good pit
and rollaracer, check out www.dillingerescapeplan.com and you'll understand just how insane the pit would have been. it was a really small place (the metro, chicago) and people were getting thrown onto stage and into amps and speakers.
FYI, Dillinger's latest album 'Miss Machine' - named #1 metal album of the year, and with good reason

Exactly. I fell during Unearth when crowd surfing and hit hard. Everyone around was like "OOOOHHH!!!" I just stuck my arm out and about 3 people picked me up.
As for wearing a string bikini to ANY concert, you're an idiot and deserved that.

Moshing is one of lifes simple pleasures...like watching birds, smelling flowers, kinky sex, etc...
One time at a Machine Head show during Davidan I was moshing, jumped up, someone was falling over took out my legs, landed straight on my forehead, got picked up and kept going even though I had a knot on my head for over a week afterwards I loved every second of it. You didnt enjoy a concert if you dont leave with at least some war wounds.

Bit silly to refuse going to a concert because of that don't you think? Just don't wear a string bikini next time, that's just asking for trouble.
