This worked perfect on my 2002 Yukon - thought I would share because I couldn't find on the web for free when I needed! (I bought these instructions)
1) Close all vehicle doors. 2) Insert the key into ignition (do not turn on). 3) Hold down the power UNLOCK button on drivers door panel - continue to hold until instructed to release. 4) Switch ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF (On means as far as you can go WITHOUT starting). 5) Now RELEASE the power unlock door button. The vehicle will cycle the door locks (locking and unlocking automatically) to indicate in programming mode. IMPORTANT: **ALL** transmitters you have must be programmed at this time (when new one is activated, old ones are de-activated automatically). 6) Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote simultaneosly until door locks cycle again. This could take up to 30 seconds. 7) Repeat step #6 for EACH remote. 8. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit programming mode. ****I think this works on all 2002 Yukon (1500, 2500, XL and Denali) Good luck!

I tried this on my cousins 02 denali and it did cycle the door locks after I released the unlock and after I held the buttons for 7 seconds, but the remote still does not work. I did put it in the on position after I was done and then I took out the key and opened the door and it still didn't work.
Do you know if there could be a problem in another place?

The easier way is to have it programed with the Tech 2 and this is the only way to do it.The Alldata and Mitchell say this is the only way to do it.

I know this is an old thread but I just had to let everyone know. I also had the sme problem as the quote. So I disconnected the ground battery cable waited a few minutes and reconnected it, all is working fine now.
