I have a 97 3000gt. I love my car but its too slow and i'm looking to buy a vr4. I'm not big on stick shift and i was wondering if i could change a vr4 into an automatic and if so, how much work and money would it be to do that?

well if you have the dohc 97 3000gt then you're still faster than a hell of a lot of n/a cars but if you have the sohc then I guess you'd be good for a run against a v6 mustang or something like that.
Anyway the answer is a LOT Of work and MORE MONEY than you would be willing to spend. I could go into all of the why's and how's of the whole ordeal but believe me, you wouldn't understand the majority of it.
I used to have a distaste when it came to driving stick but now I can't wait to get my hands on an mtx.
If you want an automatic then the vr4 isn't for you. Maybe you would be better off with a 300zxtt or a dsm that comes in atx then you could leave the real driving to the men :)

don't know about you 3KSL95, but I hate mustange too. I don't, however, go around and talk about it or make my username it :)
But, yes, I hate mustangs too, but not because I don't like the car itself. I hate the mustange because too many damn people own them. I would NEVER own a car where you can drive 5 minutes down the road and see another one.

so you want an auto VR4? talk to Hotshot8792. he doesn't have a VR4, but he did the TT conversion to his auto base/SL. so basically he has the power of a VR4 with the "quick" shifting of an automatic (minus the AWD and AWS). *
*warning, this conversion is not for the faint of heart. please talk with your mechanic before attempting.

yeah i hate mustangs too, i have my reasons...I don't think it would be all that difficult to do...just need the tranny, auto tranny ecu, shifter, pedals, high stall converter....I'm sure i'm wrong about it not being hard, but that's what it seems to me :)....oh wait AWD...yeeahh that wouldn't work out too well..unless the dsm awd tranny will bolt up.

if you have an SOHC, Ripp mods currently has a super charger for that which i'm told makes some pretty good power, but if you're still not happy, then you could do what hotshot did... either way u still have a better looking car than a mustang...
