P72 vs PR3

my friends civic used to have a JDM B16A with I/H/E, and it was runnign off of a PR3 ECU, he blew it and I dropped in a JDM B18C(GSR) with a skunk2 IM, and the I/H/E he already had. running off the same PR3 ECU.
was just wondering if there is any big difference between the ECU's besides the IAB. he doesnt have that anymore because of the manifold.
and I was thinking the car would be quicker than it is right now, I mean it is fast but just not like I thought. at first I thought that maybe it was cuz the GSR was running of of a ECU that controls a 1.6 liter from the factory, but then I started thinking Im sure the B16 and B18 have the same mixture of A/F and the MAP/IAT sensors would be letting the computer know how dense and how much air was coming ain and match fuel accordingly so that wouldnt be the problem?
should he get a P72 or is the PR3 fine, he might get a VAFC soon so he can dump more fuel in with that and see if it helps, he isnt even dissapointed in the car so it isnt a big deal I just wanted to know.

I don't know the answer, but I'd tell him to get the VAFC. At least then he'll be able to play with the A/F ratio and vtec engagement points. Maybe the motor is running a tad bit lean, or the ignition timing is a little different. :dunno:

ya the fuel curve may be different due to the different engines...

wheres the people that used to be hear and knew everything when you need em, cant think of any names right now but I used to be on here alot more back in the day and there was some genious fockers on here...

well, its a good idea, and what I was kinda thinking but wasnt sure, I dont know how knowledgable the guys at Hmotors really are, he was the one who told me to instead of buying a GSR ECU to run the B16 ECU and get the skunk2 IM, so same price, more power and ease. he said only diff. in the ECU's was the P72 looks for the IAB and the PR3 doesnt. was just trying to get more people with the same info to back up his thoughts.
Ill probably pull out his plugs soon and try to read em, kinda gold/brown is a good color right? and white or burnt electrodes show lean.

i compared gsr mapping vs b16 mapping and the mapping is different, the gsr mapping adds more fuel to make up for the increased stroke the gsr has. youll lose power by running the b16 ecu.

ok, thanks, does it only add more in certain RPM ranges or is it the whole curve?
does the VAFC allow adjustment throughout the whole curve.

run a single runner manifold, or, switch to the p72. concerning the different maps, they should be different. by, how much, i dont know. try searching hondata's or uberdatas sites for map differences.

I did install the skunk2 intake manifold to ditch the IAB when I dropped it in, so thats already taken care of, only thing im concerned with is fuel, not the IAB.
