Duplicolor clear over Testors custom spray laquers

Has anyone tried using Duplicolor Automotive clear over the new Testors "custom laquer" series sprays? I am thinking of triyng this on a project I am currently working on, that has already had 3 failed paint jobs on it(don`t ask!) and the Testors stuff is getting expensive.
Anyone have success/failure with this combo? Thanks!

I've wondered the same thing but have been too scared to try it. :uhoh:

as always, the most easy answer: test on scrap part before. We never know with Testor...

it worked on my Beretta painted with Flame Red testors lacquers, just make sure you do VERY light coats at first.

Ok, 6 coats, and so far no problems. In fact, it looks quite good. I am taking a little bit of a risk though: the Testors has only had 2 days to dry under the dupli color. I will keep an eye on it and let everyone know if any problems.

Testors has rewritten their rules a bit with these custom lacquers. Unlike their enamels, these cure pretty hard - although I think I've still perceived a very slight tackiness in feel after a few days' drying.

How did I solve this with the '71 Duster I'm working on right now? With Tamiya clear. This won't exactly solve your budget problems, but I've noticed that even aggressive flow coats of the Tamiya clear won't burn the edges of the Testors lacquers as it does the color coats in Tamiya's own range.

So as long as you've got proper control of the Duplicolor can's spray pattern, I'd guess you're probably good to go...
