I'm gonna sound like a total nooblet to Honda... but I'm really not. Just been like a year n 3 months since I've gotten to work on one. I did a B18 swap into a 91 hatchback back when, but had to sell her cause I lost the plastic. So I'm back n gettin a 88 CRX off a buddy, but the engine's shot... not a huge let down though cause he was workin with carb. Now I cruised the FAQ (HUGE help there guys) but I just wanna make sure of a thing or two...
1. - Under the direct bolt in list they got the JDM D15 VTEC... now since that's gonna bolt right in, no probs. but I'm gonna need the ECU, right?
and
2. - What about the harness? I never liked the wiring crap...

hi. There's afew routes you could go with the d15b vtec. You can convert over to obd1 (on board diagnostics) and use a vtec ecu. Or you can just run it obd0 use something like a pm6 crx si ecu and use a rpm activated switch or vafc for vtec activation. But really I don't think vtec wiring should be to hard at all. But I notice you said something about a carb..is your crx a dx or a hf? If it's a hf (or a si) then dropping in a d15b will go much much faster. If the carb thingy your talking about is throttle body injection then you're like me and also have to convert from dual to multi-point injection..which is a whole nother ordeal. If you do have a dx and need info for that just search for "mpfi" and you'll get pages. :)
Oh and one more thing about the d15b vtec. If you get one..make sure you get the one with one vtec solenoid. The one with two solenoids is the over hyped "THREE STAGE VTEC" lol..basically it's like a motor with vtec-e (crap) and normal old SOHC vtec in one..not that great in my opinion.. and probably would be a extra pain in the arse to make work.
