Camaro F1 questions?????

I have a buddy that just picked up a 1993 Camaro F1. Is there any decent online reference for the specs of the car.
He wants to do some performance work to the car. I am trying to do some research on the baseline specs of the car.
FYI he is planning on dropping in a new rear end, doing some trans work and then finally adding some boost with a supercharger.

Link works fine for me...A whole list of parts and this:
Technical Notes: It's not called F-1 by chance, it may be as close as many of us will ever come to a Formula 1 car for the street. But how would you improve on a car with the Camaro's potent 5.7 liter V8 delivering neck snapping performance and its already good handling and road manners? Put it in the capable hands of the GM Performance Parts engineers, of course. With the Camaro F-1 Extreme Sport Suspension package, awesome 16"x8" front and 17"x9" rear wheels, GM Performance Parts Hurst shifter, special F-1 floormats and drop dead gorgeous ground effects, spoiler, ornamentation and stripes, the Camaro F-1 becomes a force to be reckoned with. And if you decide to slow down long enough for anyone to get a good look at it, we believe you'll get some well deserved compliments. So, go out and get your Camaro washed, cruise down to your nearest GM Performance Parts Authorized Center (there is a list of them in the back of this catalog), and get ready to transform your already great car into a GM Performance Parts inspired statement of power, style and personality.

It's kinda hard to find actual hp specs on the F1 Camaro's because they were not a production car. They were either dealer made or made by the public. You could by all the parts from GM to make your Z into a F1. Emblems, wheels, floor mats, exhaust, hurst shifters, special intake and RS body kits. I've got an dealer info sheet on the F1's I can scan and post if you want.

so its a z28 with a body kit, intake and a shifter? never heard of it. i wonder what the "cold air intake" is referring to, if that is just the plastic ductwork that supposedly takes air to the filter in the stock airbox or does it really have a decent air intake on it.
but anyway :useless:

OK, it seems as though the "F1 package" isn't a real big deal like a Yenko or Saleen package. (I know, I said a Ford word.)
I wanted to make sure that he wasn't going to rip apart a some semi-exotic production vehicle.
Thanks for the replies.

Yep basicly on the outside the F1 is a Z28 with RS trim, stripes and ZR1 wheels. The F1 is whatever you make it to be by ordering parts.
Not all the new Z28's came with the RS trim. It was an option just like body side moldings or monochrome painted roofs (Black Roof and mirrors). I don't know if SLP put the side skirts on their RS's they made. I've only seen a few and I really didn't even notice if they had it or not.

You can find all the information you need on the Camaro F1 at
WS6.com under "General Information". The option was from GMPP
and sent to the dealer "in a box", in which the dealer or the
purchaser installed. Horsepower and Torque figures stayed the same
as the standard Z28, though there were intake and exhaust options
to be had in the 'F1 Package'.

i would rather put my own stuff on there i dont trust those mr goodwrench dudes they charge to much and they never get it right the first time,
...so the f1 package pretty much is the first mods that most of us did to our cars, exhaust, intake, ground effects, hurst shifter, i bet to do it yourself cost 1/5th the price a dealer would charge.

i wouldnt say they dont know what they are doing, but to be real honest alot of the gm people hate working on our cars, and because they are not only discountinued, but not so fixer friendly alot of the techs dont have much experiance on the maro.everytime when i use to go to chevy , the mechanic always had to find the oldest tech in the shop to ask what he thought, or they just straight gave the dude the job all together. they always tell me how they dont like working on them, and alot have told me that they dont know much about our cars. but i would never question how well they are trained because they know a hell of alot more than i do!

well i didnt mean to say they dont know what theyre doing becuase they know all the OTHER gm makes and models, they did a great job on my grand prix and my old geo prizm, but to replace a starter on my Z a week later and 600 dollars?! they said they had to pull the engine to get to it and they wouldnt work with the warranty company that only covered replaceing the starter motor, but no, the mechanics said it was the solenoid and told the warranty people the solenoid could be replaced, and how convinient that they couldnt find a solenoid.
oh and 89IROC&RS if you are a mr. goodwrench ASE certified mechanic im glad because at least the people that come to your dealership will have someone who doesnt mind working on a camaro and has knowledge of them.
its not that they dontknow what theyre doing, they obviously do, but its like they think just because our cars are discontinued and harder to work on they dont want to help you out or awnser questions that could help you fix it yourself.

yeah that is true, my last 2 eclipses and my 240 i did all my own work on those 3 cars, i didnt know much about the camaro when i got it, and i didnt know about the club im in now so everything i needed or wanted to do i went to the good ol chevy dealership, and your right. they didnt want to work on my car, and many of the guys straight up told me that they never really done anything to camaro's. its hard to find a guy who doesnt mind working on our cars and also knows what the hell he's doing. thats why i just started doing my own shit.but now im sponsored at a f body shop and the guys help me out alot.

i get parts for mad cheap, plus i get to use everything at the shop for free....lift, tools and since im cool with the boss and one of the techs i use the dyno for dirt cheap. my claim to fame was a gst eclipse that was in inport tuner 2 yrs ago, when i lived in va beach. but i think my calling was demestics, so now im on a mission to see the limits of a 3800. nobody wants to spend real money on a six they would all rather play with a 8 so im gonna be that guy. ill put about 12 grand tops in this car. in the end it may be just a show car, but first im testing out that speed limit

Well actually tere is one brand that makes real good quality ones from what I hear, most people avoid them tho only because of price (think of it like Borla lol), the compnay is Clear Image Automotive... http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/Products/Exhaust/V6Headers.htm
