I want to clean up the look of the engine bay. I'm thinking of removing the insulation from the sides of the engine bay. I will keep it on the fire wall to keep noise down in the car. Has anyone done this? And were there any unforseen side affects to it?

hhmmm. i don't know. if your fenders start to warp then you'll know it wasnt a good idea. i dont know if it'll get hot enough to do any damage. if it was me i'd try to replace it. give it a shot you can be the guinea pig.

It's been done. The "insulation" doesn't really do much except collect water and debris and make your hands itch. No ill effects from removing it.
