1990 Sub cranks, won't start, no lights

I have an intermittent problem: sometimes my Suburban will crank but won't start---similar to when your
ignition module goes bad (or fuel pump). The thing that is driving me crazy is the dome and headlights will not work when this is happening. If I wait 45 minutes or so and I open a door and the dome is on, I know it will crank. While waiting, I've fiddled with various plugs, unhooked the battery and so forth. It's happened about 10 times in the past two months. I've replaced ignition module, distributor, wires/plugs and a new battery. Haven't had computer scanned yet.

The next time it happens, check for power to fuses and work backwards toward the battery.

double check your body grounds or add a new one from the block to firewall. also make sure the wires at the starter are tight and the fusable links(right firewall under plastic cover) are all tight. adding new parts won't fix this it's a wiring problem. good luck

gbever: I'll add a ground and check the other things you guys mentioned. It's happened a few times since my last post. Just this evening after a stop to the pizza shop----opened the door, no dome light. Sure enough, strong crank but no go. Short walk home----had dinner, etc. Went back down, opened door---lights and crank. The first time I didn't touch a thing. Almost like a circuit breaker re-setting itself.
