Question About Cam Seal

My question is that, how hard would it be to replace the cam seal? What all do you have to remove or take apart to reach it? Thanks in advance!!!

Well i looked in the Haynes manual and identified where they are, and what is happening is that the seal around the rear cam is getting pushed out of place. You can literally push the seal back into the housing with a screw driver. My question is why do you think it is doing this? Were they installed incorrectly or is something forcing them out?

Excessive oil pressure can force them out, or a loose or imporoperly installed seal. I've had them leak on initial startup after building my first motor. Its one of those mistakes you only make once ;) The trick is that you have to fuss with the timing belt to get the gear off. HAving a NT, I cant offer much advice since I've never done a tbelt on those motors. But on the turbo motors there is a trick to doing this without having to do a whole tbelt job essentially. But if your mileage puts you near a tbelt service anyway, now is the time to do it! OTherwise figure out how to deal with that belt and just fix that seal. I would replace it, just to avoid having to do this job twice. They are cheap, 7-10 bucks I'd guess.
