slave cd player add-on wiring

I got a slave-cd add on off ebay. it's a honda oem unit for connecting to a honda oem tape deck. the P/N is 08A06-121-210, rhe REF.NO is CD2102. i have a feeling it miiiight not work, as this one has controls and i believe my head unit is designed for a player that doesn't have controls. anyway, the round plug thing plugs into the headunit, i got that far, then it's got 6 wires on it, the guy i bought it from wasn't sure what they were for

black (obviously ground)
white
yellow w/ red stripe
orange
white w/ blue stripe
brown

I have no idea what kind of car it came out of, it has play/pause and previous/next buttons built in, so I'm thinking accord or civic before 1996? I called a honda dealer but their parts department couldn't help since I didn't have the car type. Any ideas or should I try my luck selling it to someone who knows what they're doing on ebay?

could anyone shed some light? hopefully i've not alread fried it experimenting

edit: I have reason to believe this unit came out of an 1989 to 1993 accord.

[I need the stereo wire colors for a 1989 civic bad I don't recognize what the colors meen!!! Someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

andr3w - What year/model/trim car do you have? I've been looking for the pinout for the changer hookup for my OEM stereo on my 96 Civic DX for a long time, and have had no luck.

If you have a 6th gen civic (96-98, 99-00 were 6th gen but used different stereo stuff) your slave CD unit will be essentially half-din, with no buttons except for "eject".

As far as I know, nothing except slave units from those years exactly will work, as Honda changed their stereo manufacturer and/or design both before and after that.


ckurzhal - ... uhm we weren't talking about wiring harness pinouts, but since you asked, i would suggest either going to "teh Google" or to your local auto parts place (autozone, parts express, wal mart, whatever). They'll have a row of OEM harness adapters. Find the one that fits your car, and it should have the wiring diagram on the back. Also, those harness adapters make it REALLY REALLY easy to connect aftermarket stereos without cutting up the harness (if that's what you're trying to do) so they're 100% worth the money.

the slave unit i had had a screen and forward and reverse buttons. I actually drive a 1996 ford aspire and just happened to have an old honda radio i grabbed at a thrift store.

i have seen that pinout around the websomewhere, it's weird though, alas you cant just jam in L & R audio but there is an adapter available on the market for it. dont remember where i saw that though
