I'm not sure where the door panels are hooked up on my car, is there any general rule for taking off panels without breaking them on the doors and dash?

go to your local parts store and buy a door panel remover. about 10 bucks or so. It's shaped like a mini pry bar. Your door panels will be attatched by screws and clips. If it's a newer model you may have to pop a few panels off to find the screws. namley the power window/lock switches. It is the most famous hiding place for screws. after you get it loose you are gona want your window down so rool it down before you do anything. You will probably have to lift up on the panel because alot of times they have hooks on the backs of them that will probably break if you pry on them. watch for wires and you'll get it.
First off before I even atempt trying to give you pointers on your dash. What car do you have?
If it's a corvette you will have screws under neith and possably across the front console where your gagues and stereo is mounted. I't may also have a few snap style clips on the back of it. for the dash board there are screws under the front lip and in each defrost vent.
