Building a Rocket

Hello all, I need some advice and info from some people who are current. I've been out of racing for some time now. Last car I had was a 70 Old's Cutlass S I built the 350 Rocket up to over 450hp. Anyway I'm wanting to build a streetracer again. I'm looking at an Acura Integra or going back to some Detroit muscle, I just don't want to bother with the weight and the rear wheel drive so the Acura is looking much better. I got about 8k for mods. What would you guys suggest, another Olds or go for the newer racers?

i think a 240sx with a SR20DET engine swap would be nice. if you have 8 G's for mod. you can get the S15 one that has 250hp and its turbo, and its rear wheel drive anyways. soooo you can corner faster and launch faster.

are u talking 8k for mods alone or 8k for the entire car? i know my car with 8k in MODS would beat pretty much anything else i would find on the street, the track might be another story, but it would about rule the streets (except for maybe top-end freeway battles)

Ok dude, seriously, why would you get a 'teg?? FF cars are not that good for draggin'. Yea they can be made to do it well, we all know that, but on the street a high hp FR car will get the wholeshot and traction will not be that much of a problem. I could take my freinds Eclipse gst all day long off the line, he couldnt get the power down. If you want a drag car go FR. Like TatII said, a 240 with a SR20DET can be wicked fast. Then your other option is a 4wd car, say the WRX. Talk about getting the holeshot, the 4wd will just tear it up on the street. A wrx with a bigger turbo and a FMIC can put up big numbers, and is not that bad cost wise. My personal favorite is the miata, you can get one dirt cheap and make them run mid to low 11's for around 5K. The best to date in a stock block miata is 10.98 w/ 400hp. but hey I'm biased:D If you must get the 'teg, make sure you do it right, and get a Drag GenIII Turbo kit.

Ok , my opinion is that doing serious mods to FF cars is a waste of money and time... so i guess you get something of the suggested by others or go back to detroit muscle...

As always, it depends on what you're planning to do. If you wanna beat people between stoplights, go with the detroit muscle, but if you plan to meet at certain places with curves and such you'll probably be better off with the 240 with the swap. Not to say muscle cars don't/can't handle well, its just that if you put as much $ into a car that already rides lower and handles better stock, you end up with that much better handling.

NB8CT i would suggest the 2.5RS or the WRX too but i don't think he has the money for that car. plus i've been readin up on alot of people with problems with the WRX's center diff. they break once you start boostin it higher.
