This is kind of off topic, but some what related. I sometimes am stunned at the beautiful photography being taken on this forum. I plan on buying a new digi cam because mine is a POS. I would like to see what cameras everyone is using and maybe give me some suggestions, keep in mind i want it focus very well on small detail. Thanks

Hey I have a Sony DSC-W1 and I even got the flakes from the wheel in this pic.(Using the Marco feature will turn really small objects from blurry to crystal clear)

Take in consideration that you could also change the white balance and the aperture to get really good pics.

I use a Sony DSC-P7, look out for these...They are a PIECE OF SHIT! Waste of 300 dollars. Would've rather gone with a Canon or something:(
Mine didn't even come with the dumb Macro feature:( And has soo little options to it!!! Get a Digital SLR camera or something:lol: Something that will break your wallet:lol: But will give good pictures!:) I like smilies:)

PENTAX IST-D (brilliant , able to take detailed shots , need to buy a macro lens to do detail shots :thumbsdow, very expensive :thumbsdow)
do not buy a camera made by the "CONCORDE" company, i have one, nice camera for outside shots, or large things, crap for anything closer than two feet in front of it.

With better lighting or using the flash it could even have turned out better, but i just did them quickly now to demonstrate.

I use a Nikon Coolpix E4500. The best camera I have used in it's price range. It has one of the best macro I have used.

I use a Fujifilm Finepix 2600Z. Nice camera, I mainly use it for close up/model pics because its not as customizeable for pro photography. Its really nice though, I like it. When you have pretty good lighting you get crystal clear photos. Plus it has Macro, and digital focusing.
Just make sure whatever you choose has macro...or its not even worth looking at.

This helped me to choose a Digital camera, it has sample pictures on each one, prices, reviews etc.

Mine is a Panasonic DMC-FZ20, 12x OPTICAL 46x digital zoom, macro, LEICA 72mm lens with f2.8 in all the range! custom white balance, etc. Under 600 dlls and I'm so pleased with it I couldn't recommend it more! :icon16:

I used to have a Sony DSC-P10 5mp. Had it for a year and it served me very well but it has limited capabilities being a point and shoot typ camera. I just recently upgraded to an SLR...the new Sony DSC-F828!!
Very very nice camera!! But a little on the pricey side..just over $1200CAD...cheapest SLR however. Not sure of your budget but there are some very nice cameras out there for a lot less. You just have to do some research like i did. My suggestion would be the new soon to be released Sony DSC-H1...INCREDIBLE features for $500US...i just went to sonystyle.com...omg looks amazing!!!

I have the same camera as GTMike400 which is what I was using until now, I just go a new Fujifilm E510 which is awesome.
With the new one, I can focus on objects less than 1/2" from the lens and get high res images!
Remember, digicams are like anything else, you get what you pay for.

I just bought a Sony DSC-P73, and I haven't messed with it much, but so far it seems OK. I just need practice with it.
I figure at the very least it will be good for a starter.

I got my Sony for $169 after rebate at Best Buy (BTW: Remind me to send that in, it's $50). The only thing I can see needing to buy is a bigger memory stick and a case. It even comes with batteries and a charger.

all my picture are taken with an old Nikon Coolpix 950. Those can be found for quite cheap now. (was worth more than 1000$)
I also have a Nikon D70 DSL.
I'm sold to nikon. I also like Canon (A75 A85 A95 are very good choice)
an used Nikon Coolpix 950 990 or 995 would be your best bet.
It's also very good for everyday use. Take a look at this picture I took last week-end (there is lot more on my gallery)
