Buying a lift kit

I am considering purchasing a lift kit for my wrangler and taking it offroad, where a wrangler is supposed to be. I've noticed that body lifts are considerably cheaper then suspension lifts. Does it make a big difference which I go with? I figure supension lifts are probably better but unless it is a big difference, I think I will go with the body lift.

The difference between a body life and a suspension lift is a lot. For one, a body lift will raise the center of gravity of your Jeep, and since for a wrangler thats already pretty high, I wouldnt want to raise it even more. If you are thinking about taking your Jeep through some pretty serious stuff, you want to have a suspension that can handle it. The biggest reason in my mind to get a suspension lift is the additional travel in 3-D that some of the lifts offer. If you get a body lift you are stuck with the same stock suspension that your buddy riding with 28's has. I think of it like this...the difference between a body lift and a suspension lift is the same difference as that between a Wrangler and say a Isuzu Amigo. Both can get the job done under regular condition, but would you buy an Amigo over a Wrangler? NO! You wanted the capability of a Wrangler when you bought it, so why limit that capability by cheaping out?

I think I probably will go with a suspension lift. I just have to wait a little while untill I get the money.

I think thats the smartest thing to do...you will have to keep me updated on what type and how big you go.

I agree completely. I put a 4" suspension lift on my wrangler. A body lift is a poor alternative to the suspension lift.

Question:

Once you buy the lift kit for your wrangler how do you find someone to install it?
