I'd like to know what a good paint job for a 88 short wheel base would run i'd like to be jet black. Plus would it be less if i sanded it down and and put a primer coat on it plus how hard would that be thanks

Well that's what I am in the prossese of doing right now. It will take a while. I am painting it myself and I can get the paint for 135 a gallon. and I will need about 1.5 I bought a case of primer for 15 at Walmart, Sandpaper is about 8 a pack and you will need some 80, 120, 220, 320, 600, 1000. You can probably get away with one or two sheets of 1000. That's for wet sanding anyway. I don't know about a body shop though.

If I were to guess, a quality paint job from a quality shop would probably be somewhere around $5000. Maybe more than that.
Provided the shop does outstanding work, you get what you pay for.

you don't need primer if the paint on your truck right now is ok, just block it out a little.. dont think that using a power sander is going to make your paint job look good because it will be wavy as hell... and jet black is the hardest color to get to look good and its the hardest to keep it looking good.... i would say $5000 sounds right that is what my shop would charge....
