Greetings! I'm a new member to this site. Hope to get lots of good advice/information here. I currently have a 1992 Miata with an automatic transmission (I know, I know, I'm missing the whole point of this great car!!). I purchased the car used (78,000 miles) in 2000 in Florida for one of my daughters as her first car. I thought it would be a "cool" car for her (convertible and all that) and I liked the idea of the auto trannie so she could concentrate on steering and the basics. Well the car has been wonderful, no major mechanical issues, just the usual new tires, oil changes, etc. That daughter has graduated from college, gotten a new 2005 Mazda 3, so the 1992 now gets passed on to the next daughter with a new drivers license (the car now has 109,100 miles on it and still going strong). The airbag light is now flashing (10 flashes so that must mean the module needs to be replaced). Has anyone here had that problem, and if so, how much did it cost to get it fixed (the local Mazda dealer is quoting $1,200!).

Next question - I want to purchase a Miata for my own daily commute to/from work, and for the occasional "zoom zoom" on the weekends. I would like to get a Miata that is a 1999. Any pros/cons on that year? I like the regular headlights and the larger engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a 1999 and I love it. The only problem so far (with 55K miles) has been a leaky Master clutch cyliner.

It's a great car with a little more zip than my last Miata which was a 93!!
