HELP! - Seat Belt pre-tensioners

HELP!!
Im changing the interior of my pug 106, I have found a nice GTi Interior and am in the process of putting it in my 3dr XND.
My XND has seat belt pre-tensioners (not got a clue what they do..)
I have been looking thru my haynes manual (page 11.18 if you have one handy) and this is what it says:
Front Seat Belt Stalk -
WARNING! on models with seat belt pre-tensioners do not attempt to remove the seat belt stalk assembly, which incorperates the pre-tensioner assembly.
Refer the operation to a Peugeot Dealer.
is this really one of those jobs that has to be done by a dealer or is it something i can do with a bit of care?
