Altenator problem?

My altenator is starting to squeek ocassionaly and sometimes i'll notice that my voltage guage tickers. Could this be an altenator problem?

it sounds like a bearing might me getting bad causing a squeek.make sure the alternator belt is good and tight. while the truck is running take your positive cable off the battery if it stays running your alt is fine if it quits your alt is bad. as far as the volt gauge goes your alternator has a built in voltage regulator,when you use accessories like your signal lights you will see little ticks on your volt gauge. good luck.
