My radio is locked since I bought it from a dealer. Is there anyone out there who works at a dealership or knows someone that does that could get me the unlock code and instructions? The dealership wants $40, and I want to keep the stock radio for now. Please somebody help!!!!

Welcome to the forum. Call this number 1-800-762-2737, Its Pontiac Customer Service. Give them a call and tell them your Vin and ask them for the code to unlock it. They are there to give out that type of info(for free I might add). Good Luck.

ill post my problem too,
my stock 1995 sterio has a problem with reading cds sometimes, the cd goes in and out and in and out then e23 comes up
i think its a problem with the motor inside
what should i do? replace the sterio with a newer one? how can that be done? its a 10 speaker system 500W im told... plus all i can replace it with would be 52x4
plus there would be an ugly hole in the console where the larger sterio used to be
plz help!
Thanks

well mine read E20, but from researching it on the net i found out that basically it means it can't read the cd and it would cost as much to get it fixed as it would to buy a brand new one from GM. So i went to ebay and got one out of a 2001 trans am and it only took 5 minutes to put in because it was a direct swap

FormulaLT1 I spoke to the pontiac customer assistance and they said the only way to get the code is to bring it to a dealership. I guess I'll just have to hand over my $40. Thanks for the advice anyways bro.

That is so weird. I have gotten all types of info from them on my vehicles. Infact they even give out key codes. Sorry it didn't work

Sorry it didn't work If anyone out there has the same problem, the only solution is to Either go online and pay the $37.50+ for the code and instructions or pay the dealership $40 to do it. There is no other way. :2cents:

What kind of car do you have, I know that on some with steering wheel controls, it's a simple matter of hitting the MUTE button on the wheel controls.

Do a search through Automotive forums for Theftlock. I found something a while back that gave instructions how to unlock the unit and a link to a web site to obtain the unlock codes.

Was able to find some instructions and list them here.
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 seconds until three numbers appear on the display.
2. Write these numbers down.
3. Press AM/FM. Three new numbers will come up. Write these down, also.
4. Call 1-800-537-5140. Ignore the instructions and enter 139010 followed by star (*).
5. Enter the 6 digit code from your radio and press star. Write this number down.
6. Turn the ignition to on. Press the hour (HR) button to set the first two numbers. Then, the minute (MIN) button to match the last two. Press the AM/FM button. Once complete, the radio will display SEC (or scroll SECURE). Turn on the radio, and the system has been sucessfully deactivated.
Let us know if it works, by the way the web site I saw referenced was just an ad to pay someone to send you the code. I think these instructions are how they do it at the dealership and I would assume cost nothing.
