Breather filter

Does anyone know if the breather filter does ne hard to the head. i've heard that the breather pulls in to much air and unevenly distributes the air into the valves and over time causes uneven wear on the valves. i dont understand the concept. i dont see the difference between the breather filter or the hose from the intake. either way i dont care if i get rid of it i just wana know b4 i take it off. i mean it kinda looks good on but it dont make a difference.

it pushes air not, not sucking air in so instead of putting the air/oil vapor into yoru intake it just vents it. ive heard it can actually hurt your performance alittle, not much though

some people have had problems where oil starts leaking out the breather filter and starts dripping behind the motor(this is because under the valve cover the cam and rocker arms are kicking the oil up and splashing it). i took mine off after reading its better to keep vacuum under the valve cover via by keeping the breather hose on the intake. i dont remember exactly but i think it has to do with the rocker arms having to push/pull air in when you use a breather filter, which causes energy to be wasted.

so i dont understand how the oil can leak from the breather filter but not the hose. i mean wouldnt the hose still have the same concept of the hose?? i've had mine on for bout 15,000 miles and i dont have that problem. im not disagreeing with you by ne means but if you could find the site you read that on that would be straight.

did i stump everybody?? i know im still confused....

the hose is raised alittle to get to the intake so the oil has a hard time going up the hose. for example on my car, my intake or the intake side of my breather hose doesnt have any oil in it but when my friend took it off hte intake and shoved the hose facing down, i noticed oil leaking from the hose

but thats just alittle blow by, major blow by will put alittle oil into your intake. a good way to tell if you have blow by is to pull off hte hose and see if theres oil and also smell the air coming out and see if it smells like exhaust. also a compression check is a good indicator

well i have the breather filter on now and i've never noticed ne problems with oil leaking. i was just wondering about that. and i've noticed that crate engines use breather filter instead of a hose. if breather filters are bad then why would they be on crate engines???

im assumin im ok with the breather filter. correct me if im wrong.

the reason most people put the filter on is because they dont want that oily vapor or oil going into there intake so they put the filter on

yeah thats the only import crate engine there is. i saw that in a magazine not too long ago.

all muscle cars use breather filters. i havent seen one not use one before

well im glad slow_99integra got that up since i was away for awhile. i wasnt sure if you were serious at first. (not insulting you or nething) there was this website i was lookin at before that had a d series crate engine but i dont remember the website. (if interested i guess i can find it)

but so what has came out of this is that the breather filter isnt really a bad thing and if/when oil starts to get in the filter i need to change it? its not gona ruin my motor at all rite??

oil coming out of your engine can lead to low oil and then burned up bearings, etc, etc

well yeah i know that about the oil. it shouldnt be that much. i dont assume. i mean i've had it on my car since the beginning of last summer (given i've only put 300 miles on my car this winter) but i havnt noticed ne oil leaking. but i guess if i pay attention for it and if i do notice oil then i will pay attention to the oil level. good lookin out.
