i have a 93 bonny ssei and the guy i bought it from has like a power cut out and on switch coming from the battery i believe? do not know why and the car wont start without turning the switch on neither will any power.but the power locks dont work at all (with switch on or off) Im wondering what kind of problem he could be possibly be trying to avoid, from fixing.....would this be the constantly stalling?? cutting out?? but how would this switch change any of that?? he also said he disconnected the abs ? that could also be a lie?? IF any one knows any information i would like to know im pretty lost with this, i need to figure out how to make things right again... and would like to know if the car will ever be the same without this "custom on- off switch"?? im looking for anyone who could help or had any similar problems...

I'd get that switch out of there first. The current throught the battery cable is pretty high... which means a mondo switch or relay. Are you sure it isolates the battery form the car or just like the starter wire? Can you post a picture of what you're talking about?

I have the ABS disconnected in my 90 and my 93 had the ABS light on until I pulled the bulb. ABS is a parallel system to the regular braking system. If there is a fault in the ABS, your regular brakes should work fine as a standard brake system.

Could be one of two things, one being the switch was installed as a theft detterent, or to prevent a battery drain problem. If you leave the switch on all of the time and do not drive the car over a period of time and the car will not crank then this is why it was installed. This may be why other things are not working, they may have been disconnected in an attempt to find the offending parasitic draw.

alright, thanks guys, now ive disconnected that mondo switch and hook up the battery how it should be i think-- but is there supposed to be 2 positive lines going into the terminal, i dont know but it looks as if its supposed to be like that but ive never seen it like that before.Problem now is that the car did not start the next morning, looks like ive got a draw somewhere, but heres the twist--with no key in at all the power windows and sunroof will operate? is that correct ?? any help would be appreciated-- thanks guys

Two positive battery is normal on your car.

Your car also has Retained Accessory Power. This feature allows certain accessories to operate for 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off. The windows, sunroof, and radio are on the RAP curciut. Note that the RAP circuit will also turn off is one of the doors is opened within the 10 minute period.

It sounds like you new car didn't come with an owners manual. Download one here (https://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2content/manual/US/en/pontiac/1993bonneville.pdf) or you can usually find them on Ebay for about $10
