140 Mph!!!

I was talking to this total jackass the other day, thinks he's a real genius. He proceeded to tell me that he drove his '95 stock Ford Taurus 140 MPH. When I said bullsh!t, he insisted that he unhooked some sensor, (he said the name, but I forgot what it was, all I remember is that it was some part I'd never heard of) Anyways he kepts insisting that he drove 140 mph. Eventually I called him a liar and walked off. Why do people brag like that?

Was it an SHO? I know my old 97 SHO was governed at something like 144mph, and it could get there with ease. A standard Taurus, no way.

No its not a SHO. I've seen the car, its just your typical old lady Ford Taurus.

If that's the only boast you've ever heard, you're doing good! Ever think that he might have been going down a long grade? There are some good ones on western freeways. Besides, who cares if he goes 140, if he gets pulled over he's likely going straight to jail.

Shit i will be lucky to hit 90mph on my dads Sable. It doesn't feel safe at high speeds. One thing about Sable and Taurus they are good in the snow. I hit 140 in My 1995 Maxima 5 speed.

a duratec will run to 120 no problem, without a governor it would probably run out of steam around 130.

Yeah, the speedo may have read that, but in reality probably much lower. A Duratec would not be able to push 130 without a lot of intake and exhaust mods. Take a look at the TCCA board.

First he would have to have computer upgrade to remove the rev limiter which is normal mod for a mustang or camaro. If I removed the rev limiter on my 3.8 ltr camaro it would do a 130 top end wiht no other mods. but I agree with the last guy a normal Tauras limiter removed will probably not do 125 let alone 140 or they would have a pretty good resale value which they do not.

I highly doubt that guy was doing 140. Even if his speedo actually said that, it was because it's extremely off. 140 In a stock taurus = impossible.

I mean that 140 in a stock ford taurus is damn close to impossible, and even if he did have the pcm reprogrammed / mods neccessary to pull it off, he may have thought he was going 140 but he actually wasn't. lots of speedometers get innacurrate at high speeds.

I have a 95' Ford Taurs Gl with a flowmaster and cold air intake from AutoZone lol and it comes no where near 140mph, however my 96' 5-speed SHO with Dual Flows and blower can make that in a hurry (for a taurus)

A couple of years back I got pulled over by a CHP officer who was using a Laser Speed Detector (replaced radar I guess), it was a little after 1 am, and I thought I was alone on the road, a nice flat stretch of highway that runs between san diego bay and the pacific ocean, well anyway I jumped at a red light and maxed out my speedo, which is only 85, even at 85 it continued to accel, so I went with it, and eventually saw him sitting up ahead on the side of the road, flashing his lights, so i pulled off, he said i was going 120, and if my taurus (toaster as i call it) were any other model, (im sure he meant sho) i'd be going to jail then and there. Instead i got a big fat ticket, a judge called me crazy, and they suspended my license for 2 weeks. Good thing they have a class that you can go to that keeps the points off. So my Question is, was that cop full of $h*t?, or have you guys ever had a chance to really max out your rides? I drive a 95 3.8L.

with the 3.8L, I can see that as a posibility. its virtually near to the same 3.8L used in the stangs.

as for your punishment, your lucky. here, if your caught over 100, its automatically a 30 day suspension if the roads are empty (like you said they were), and a 6mo is the roads have any traffic.

lol when he said he would've arrested you if it were any other model, he probably meant that he didn't think a taurus could go 120 so his radar must have been wrong. :lol2:

I have a vulcan taurus and i doubt they do more then 100. I'm sure they have a governor thats limited at like 110 or around there. I had a 99 cobra that ran 13.3@106mph and i raced a superchargered sho from a roll to over 150mph. ten years later and looking back, i realize that was the single dumbest thing i've done to risk my life lol
