Help me decide if I should keep my graphics on the car!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I have a 3000gt with the graphics . I bought the 3000gt for its AWESOME look. Most mods were external like 18 inch rims, underbody neons, and the graphics. I'm really considering the bomes front bumper lip. I also plan on putting coilovers this weekend and install some red glow center gauges so I might be back to this forum if I run into some problems. As I knew more and more from working on my car I start to have more and more appreciation for the more "nice but subtle look" and away from the "ricer look". I see a lot of people stare at my car as I'm driving but I'm not sure if its the good stare or a here's another ricer stare. Help me decide if I should keep the graphics or lose them.........car is kinda dirty and pictures are low resolution but bear with me, its winter here. Thanks in advance for you input.

Well I don't see any pictures...but generally I'm against graphics, especially on our cars...but occasionally, it can enhance the look...but that is rare.

Click on gallery at the top left of the screen, sign into your gallery. Upload your pictures to your gallery. Then when you view it, there will be an html tag under the picture

Ex. [img[http;//www.blahblahblah.co[/img]

Copy paste that tag into your post, and the pictures will show up.

Please remove the graphics on the hood and top. Just keep the oens on the sides

The graphics on the side don't look too bad but since I can't really tell what's on the hood and the top of the car, it looks kinda weird. Nice color though....haven't seen one that orange before (unless if it's just cause it's bad quality). With 18 inch rims, your car would look really nice after you drop it. Post some pictures when you can after you're done. :)

Oh yeah, your profile says you have a '99 GT but isn't that a '94 in the picture?

Please for the love of cars take those off! Theres a beautiful car underneath!
I start to have more and more appreciation for the more "nice but subtle look"
That is a very smart thing you said there, stick with it and your car will look great!

I can still see the pics. My personal feeling is that if you are going to go crazy with decorating it should be on the inside. Vinyls are considered kinda lame so I would take them off. The hood and roof ones are especially obnoxious, they definitely have to go.

Twizted_3KGT

Yeah hood one definitely has to go, and the roof one (if that is one)...makes it look cheap...the side one is an ok graphic but just looks like a blob of primer from a distance...doesn't go with red at all...would be good on a dark blue i think....I'd say take them all off and worry about lowering your car! :)

Sell them on ebay to some F&F ricer wanna-be and use the proceds to help fund the drop.

I thought I read somewhere on this forum that putting lowering springs on it is hard on it. I'm can't realy remember but i thing some one mentioned that after a while the ride gets really rough or something. some one help me out here.

Lose the graphics. All of them. A "subtle" look never included graphics. The bomex lip, nice drop with the coilovers, nice wheels, tint job and your paint job minus the graphics = perfect subtle car.

Compaqpunch, your ride does get rougher but your car's handling increases.

Oh dear god, take the VR4 badge off your base model.

It has VR4 badging? Dude take that off... if you want people to think you have a differet model go get one!

Those are the exact graphics from the RX-7 in the first F&F. I don't really like them on the car, cuz number 1, there not original, and number 2 i dont think they really look good, expecially that one on the roof, which i think is there to be under a roof scoop. Also, about the VR-4 badge, imo, thats just disrespectful to people who have a vr-4, i also think its disrespectful for people with a vr-4 to take it off.
but this is just my 2 cents, you gotta do what you like.

I would rather be driving around in a car with bloches of primer paint all over the doors and hood than have those graphics.... No offense or anything but thats just how I feel.

Your other goals sound great but man with those graphics you are begging for attention and often not the good kind.

i also think its disrespectful for people with a vr-4 to take it off.

My car came with the badging off cept for the twin turbo on the sail panels, I like the way it looks and I think I might take off the hood emblem (its kinda faded). Taking badges off is ok... Unless your trying to hide the fact that you drive a crappy car like a geo or somthing. Its ok for the big boys to take off their name tags though.

Yea that's definitely not a subtle look. In some cases less is more, and buddy if you're looking to turn heads here's some news. 3KGT's have a natural ability to do that :D Our cars look straight up exotic man. And hey i thought you had a vr4 ... no offense, but you should take off that vr4 badge and save yourself the embarassment. You WILL be meeting other knowledgeable 3kgters i assure you. What if you meet a vr4er and the person asks to look under your hood? Heck come to think of it, they wouldn't even need to look under the hood ... Hey your gonna luv that Bomex front lip. I have one :) Becareful not to drop your car too low though because some of those bomex lips drag really low, especially mine. I have no idea what the stock specs are, but my car is about 8'' off the ground. My bomex front lip makes me about 2'' off the ground and, i've already cracked it completely in half twice bc of some stupid pot holes. So try and have some money on the side for repairs. Good Luck with everything bro and congrats on the car! :)

Oh and i agree with thourun. When i get my vr4 i'm gonna shave all the badging. I guess i just like the element of surprise, and hey i wouldan't wanna scare away any civics ;)

Shaving badging is perfectly fine. I have ZERO badging on my car and you wouldnt beleive some of the questions I get about what people think it is.

Same here LoL! What's the most common one let me guess ...

Is it Turbo?

And soooo many people ask me "What type of car is that"? lol

Those are my 2 most common questions :)

The best and probably most funny one happened at a Sheetz one night. For those who might not know Sheetz is a 24 gas station/conveniece store that OWNZZ JOO! :p

Anyway I stopped to get gas and a drink. After I filled up I was walking up to the building and this older biker guy walks up to me. He was like, "Excuse me. But is that a new Mustang?" I was dying laughing on the inside. Not the first time it was called a Stang. I explained to him what it was and he walked around it like 4 or 5 times complimenting different aspects about the car. Made me feel good.

I have had it called anthing from a Viper to a Mustang to an Eclipse to a WTF is that?

LoL!

I've just mostly gotten that "wtf is that"? Just happened about 2weeks ago actually. I was at a gas station with my windows rolled down and some kid that worked there walked up to the passenger and said "Hey what type of car is that?" And i'm like "3000gt", to which he responded "It's hot man." to which i said Thx! :D Another time was this hot chic at a diner. I parked my car RIGHT in front of the diner window maybe purposely :) and 1 of the waitresses was like *Smile is that your car?!* "Yes it is!" *What type of car is that?* "3kgt!" and this type of stuff happens very very often. It's situations like those that make me feel proud and good about having a 3kgt.

Thourun

I remember thinking "WTF is that!" the first time I saw the local 3S guys (quite a few in my town on 3SI).

Stealthee, do you have the tripple diamond indentation from the mitsu logo on your front bumper or did it come smooth? I think I'll take mine off, maybe tomorrow. Should I just use a heat gun with a gentle touch? Would naptha (lighter fluid) hurt my paint at all? Its good for taking off sticky glue residue.

Stealthee
03-16-2005, 07:35 AM
It was indented when I got the bumper. I had my dad smooth it over before painting it.

I had someone one time before it was filled ask me "Thats a Dodge right?" I told them yes and they were like "Why does it have a Mitsubishi bumper on it?"

Igovert500
03-16-2005, 11:17 AM
I don't know how much lighter fluid will work, but it will harm your paint if left on...when I detailed, we would use kerosene to get road tar off...but you gotta wash that off afterwards or it will eat through the paint. And don't be surprised if some red comes off on your rag as you are rubbing...

Stealthee
03-16-2005, 05:28 PM
I dunno if I would risk using lighter fluid. I would try goo gone first. If that doesnt work a very small amount of paint reducer on a rag will remove it.

BTW my dad told me last night he saw something on TV where they removed tar from a car using peanut butter. Anyone else ever hear of that?

NitroguN
03-16-2005, 07:43 PM
LoL! I haven't, but that sounds funny. I'd be removing tar and have bread in my other hand.
