The JDM version is the one you order online it's the ZC.
The Euro version is the D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 which pretty much is ZC. Euro version are 124hp or 130hp depending on cat. The early '88 and '89's are 130hp. I have never ordered an engine online but I'm pretty sure that if you buy an engine from nippon or whatever it will be a 130hp JDM ZC.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Doing this off the top of my head, the bronze covered ZC comes from the 3G Civic Si/1G CRX Si and the black-top from the JDM/Aussie 4G Civic Si/2G CRX Si and the Aussie EG Si. It also came out in the JDM/Aussie 1G 'teg... but... there was a lower power twin-carbed version with a gold top that came out in Japan. This is the one that quite often gets sold with the FI equipment bolted on from a blown FI engine and still remains down on power.

The engine code should say ZC and the valve cover should be black with the honda symbol on the exhaust side of the cover. That's pretty much all you need to know.

Actually, the first gen integras came with a ZC with a brown valve cover, and they actually made more power than the ones with the black valve cover that came in later integra's. yes, some came with carbeurators, but those were very rare and extremely hard to find, even in Japan. the SOHC ZC's are worthless, i guess, as they make about as much power as a CRX motor.

Yea... The brown top integra motor makes more power but wont bolt into a CIVIC or CRX chassis... No one makes a kit so you would have to make some custom mounts yourself! I dont think its worth the 5-6 HP honestly but why does the D16A1 (Usdm teg ZC) make 5-6 more hp?

It all depends on what the ZC is going into. The earlier 86-87 ZCs
(brown tops) with valve cover bolts on the inside have the same mount
pattern as the 3G Civic and 1G CRX. So there is no need for a mount
kit as somebody mentioned. (Trust me, I've done two of these swaps
into 1G CRXs)
The later version ZCs (88-89) with blacktops and valvecover bolts on the
outside will directly bolt into 4G Civic and 2G CRXs without a mount kit.
So it all depends on what car this motor is going into.
As far as markings; it should be stamped on the front/left of the block
ZC, if it says D16A1 it's a USDM Integra motor.
If you have any questions in regards to this swap into 1G CRX/3G Civic
then check out the link in my signature.
