I'm trying to sell my 2002 Chevy Cavalier that has 29K miles and in excellent condition. It has power locks and trunk, 5 speed, cloth seats, crank windows. Black with charcoal grey interior. I've had it on www.Autotrader.com for a few months and no calls. I priced it at $6900.00 OBO and for some reason I can't seem to sell this puppy. Any suggestions on what would be a good price?

I checked the kelley blue book for my 2002 and the wholesale value was under 4G. They lose value pretty quickly

I just lowered the price to 6000.00 OBO. Hopefully i'll get some calls on it. The car is in excellent condition, maybe this weekend i'll wash and wax it with some Meguiars NXT wax and post some pics for anyone that may be interested.

His is a four door and it came with some free knitting needles! I think he spun the cat hair on the back seat into yarn and made a sweater! did you finish it yet Cody?
brown and blue I think it was!
Yeah I don't see why you haven't had any calls on the car, seems good enough price, although there's been an 02 Sunfire 4 door near me for a good price for about 4 months now, just sits there! Too many people are getting new cars, the used car market is dying and residuals just getting lower and lower. A new 05 Cav can be gotten for a really good deal right now so there probably lies your problem!
Good Luck!

I t may help ya to list the model, like is it an LS or a Sport or Es, etc.
We picked up my g/f's '03 LS Sport, loaded except for power seats, has the power moonie, 5 speed manual, the LS Sport suspension and effect panels, etc.etc., practically a carbon copy of noshun's LS Sport, and we dealer'ed at $9,200. It had 46K on it, a bit high miles for price, but it was one immaculate ride and super good runner.

Not sure if I'm understanding... How is your 97 with 65,000 relevant to my 2002 with 29K miles?? Even if your ride has 17 chrome rims, I don't see how it compares to a car that is 5 years newer than yours.
The original question was: What is a good price for a 02? 'not' what your 97 2.2 cavi green,65,000 miles w/chrome 17's and im only asking 2000 is selling for. In other forums this would be called "Highjacking a thread" Sorry i'm not trying to be rude or anything.

Thanks Classicrocjunkie, I think it's a steal for 6000.00. My Autotrader ad with the new price takes effect this coming Thursday. Until then, the price is advertised at $6900.00. I also ran an ad in the Penny Saver and the REcycler. Hopefully now i'll get some interested buyers.
If it doesn't sell in a month, it's going on eBay. Anyone agree?

So you're saying i'm better off selling it on eBay with a reserve of $4500.00? Don't you think $4500.00 is a bit low? I've seen all the other cars (02 Cavi's) in the Autotrader and my car has the lowest price, I think the next car up same year more miles is $7700.00 and from a private seller.
I'll try it for 6K for a couple weeks and if I get no call then i'll think about dropping it a bit more.
I also created a quick site for the Cavi... check it out

Wow, looks like Cavi's don't hold their value. At only 29K and 2002 it seems that 6K would be a steal. So you're saying that this should go for less than 4K... I'd rather keep it and give it to my son when he turns 16 (he's not even born yet). So why are people still buying these cars if two years later loose 75% of their value? I had a 95 Integra VTEC which I bought new for $17,500 and sold it 4 years later with 60K for 14,500 (had rims and some engine upgrades but no more than 3K invested) talk about holding it's value.
I sitll have confidence in American made cars and believe this ride is worth every penny. Like I said before, if I don't get any calls in a couple weeks I'll try selling on eBay (with a reserve of course) Anyone think it would be a smart move?

these cars lost their value so quickly cause they got replaced. Gm desperately wanted to get rid of any left over cavaliers on the lot to make room for the cobalts. The cavalier repacement. Combine that with some great rebates and such, ive seen people get brand new cavaliers for 7,000-10,000 dollars depending on what they got with them. They were trying so hard to get rid of them they had a deal going for a little bit that if you bought a chevy Tahoe, they gave you a cavalier for FREE!

I just got an offer for 5K... Wow, there goes a thousand dollars. What do you guys think? I personally don't think it's worth selling it for that low, this car is practically brand new. I talked it over with my wife and I guess it's probably best if we sell it. It's been sitting in the garage for 6 months and I am still paying insurance on it. Just another expense that we don't need. I could keep it and give it to my son when he turns 16. What do you guys think? Is 5000.00 a reasonable price?

5,000 is a really good price for a 2.2L 2200. I know it sucks, but your gonna have to bite the bullet on this one. Or it would be a really good idea to keep it for your son when he turns 16. I had a 2.2L cavy when i turned 16, its a good car to learn on. Not very powerful so you dont have to worry about him street racing it. Handles well.

Not sure if this sounds shady, but he wants me to sign it over and let him fill out the DMV paperwork when he resells the car. I think he might be a wholesaler that doesn't want to pay taxes, but I think that makes me liable if any tickets are issued or if he crashes the car. Suggestions?
